Goodbye forever, algae monster! 💪🏼🌱

Today we were lucky enough to work on this stunning pond, which had become overtaken by a mountain of algae in various forms.

To tackle it, we:

✅ Carefully hand-removed large strands and mats of algae
✅ Cleared algae growing along the pond edges
✅ Carried out a 25% water change
✅ Removed dead and decaying plant material

Along the way, we were lucky enough to discover some incredible wildlife residents, including newts and diving beetles, which is a fantastic sign of a healthy, well-established pond ecosystem. 🦎💚

The water is currently a little cloudy due to sediment being disturbed during the clean, but this will settle naturally over the coming weeks.

A huge improvement and another happy pond! 🐟🌿

We’ve been incredibly busy recently, helping customers with everything from aquarium maintenance and fishkeeping advice to tackling overgrown ponds, blanket w**d, faulty equipment and full system clean-ups.

Today alone involved removing huge amounts of blanket w**d, restoring filtration and bringing a pond back to life after its pump and filter had become heavily clogged. It’s hard work, but seeing these aquatic systems get back on track makes it all worthwhile! 🌿🐠

Client: “How do I know you’ve actually cleaned the tank?”

Us: Creates an underwater snowstorm 😂

This tank was photographed straight after maintenance, which means all the trapped debris has been disturbed and lifted into the water. The filter will now do the rest of the work and polish the water back to crystal clear.

Sometimes the messiest part of the job is exactly how you know it’s working! 🐟✨

A very important tip if you have a pond in this hot weather guys!☀️

As temperatures rise, your pond needs a little more attention 🌞

Warmer water holds less oxygen — which means your koi and goldfish are working harder to breathe. Keep your pump running continuously, consider adding extra aeration, and make sure your UV and filter are performing at their best.

Now is also the perfect time to check your UV lamp. Most need replacing annually, and summer is when they work hardest against algae blooms.

Yesterday’s big ol job!🫧🐢

We attacked this MAMMOTH pond that had been without any filtration system for as long as can be remembered!

With the installation of an Oase Screenmatic and a giant new pond pump, this swamp should clear up within the next few months - we can’t wait!🏆

I know a lot of people ask the same question about ponds - why does it not look crystal clear after you guys have cleaned it?

When fish are involved, we cannot drain all the water from the pond - even if not filtered as it holds a lot of beneficial bacteria..

Trust us! We would LOVE to take all the water out, jet wash and start fresh, however fish health comes FIRST in priorities💚

With over 100 fish in this pond, draining was NEVER an option however we are now on the road to clear water!💦
