At Sew Confident, we teach a comprehensive range of sewing classes for all abilities. (We do not provide an alterations service, sorry!)

Our classes are structured and designed to build confidence, and teach all the necessary sewing skills in a bite size session! We pride ourselves on providing fun, friendly learning environments with a big emphasis on the social side. We have franchises in Dundee and Chorley too! We also sell Elna and Janome sewing machines and other supplies. We can recommend a place to get your sewing machines serviced, but we do not offer this as a service. Jersey giving you the fear? 👀 SAVE THIS ONE.

We want to help you tackle jersey without the stress — and these two little helpers can make a BIG difference:

✨ Flatter
✨ Spray starch

One of the trickiest things about jersey is those edges that just LOVE to curl and roll the second you look at them 🙃

Using Flatter or spray starch can help give your fabric a little more stability, keep that rolling to a minimum and make it much easier to control while you’re cutting, pinning and sewing.

Basically… less fighting with your fabric and a much calmer sewing experience 😂

And that’s exactly what we want to show you with our Classic Cami jersey doesn’t have to be scary. You just need to know how to work with it.

We’re not using one to make ours and we don’t expect you to have one either.

If you’ve seen that the Classic Cami is made from jersey and immediately thought…

“Nope. I don’t have an overlocker.”

This is exactly why we’re doing this. 👏

We’re going to show you how to sew with jersey using your regular sewing machine, step by step, so you can feel confident working with stretch fabrics WITHOUT needing another machine.

STRIPED HEAVEN HAS ARRIVED… and honestly, we’re obsessed.

The minute these brand-new cotton stripes landed in the studio, we had one thing in our heads… Matchy Matchy Sewing Club patterns.

These patterns and stripes are basically MADE for each other. Play with the direction, mix your stripes, turn them on the pockets, cuffs or panels and make something that feels completely your own.

We’re talking oversized shirts, easy trousers, statement co-ords… the kind of pieces you’ll make now and pull out of your wardrobe year after year.

Because a good stripe NEVER goes out of style and these colour combinations are absolutely perfect for heading into autumn.

Now the only problem is deciding which combination to make first…

🚨 THERE’S A NEW GIRL IN THE SEW CONFIDENT STUDIO…

What a week to start though because the STRIPES have landed… and they are GOOD.

We’ve got the most gorgeous striped cottons in those perfect heading-into-autumn tones. If you love the relaxed Beyond Nine look or you’ve got a Matchy Matchy pattern waiting in your stash these are the fabrics. Shirts, trousers, co-ords… we can see it all.

Then we’ve got bold striped French Terry that is basically begging to become an oversized tee, sweatshirt, skirt or dress.
