Love this old photo of Gauze Street... just along from where we are now
A lovely 'Oldie' of Gauze Street as it was back in the mid 60's from the Heritage Library.
Lawn Street branching off to the left and by this time Arnotts had taken over the Urquharts Confectioners Branch which was on the left corner, although still trading under the 'Cochran' name.
On the right at No's 17-19 was Fraser & Love, Ladies, Gents & Childrens Outfitters, the place for School uniforms, and owned like Cochran (Arnotts) by the House of Fraser and at No.21 was Currie & Thompson. Rainware and Rubberware Specialists.
If you'd traipsed all the way down from the High Street then by that time you might be in need for a refreshment which could be had next door again at No.23 - The Anchor Bar (off picture). You will by now also have noticed how neat and tidy the grass and flower beds were and are still today kept much to the same standard although a slip road runs through to Lawn Street and Gauze Street.
