Such a wonderful wedding at on Saturday. Francesca and Julian organised the most perfect day for their family and friends, there was so much love in the room for this gorgeous couple.

It was a privilege to be their celebrant and work alongside who was capturing the day and who sang so beautifully.

Wedding guest lists are getting smaller.

But interestingly, this doesn’t always mean the budget is shrinking. Couples are often choosing to invite fewer people but spend more on the experience for those who are there.

Think incredible food, beautiful styling, exclusive use venues, lots of personal touches and a ceremony that feels genuinely theirs.

Because when you have 16 guests instead of 160, you can make every single guest feel like they truly matter.

And that’s where choosing a celebrant, like me, can make such a difference. Your ceremony doesn’t have to be shorter, simpler or less important because your guest list is smaller.

Opting for a Celebrant led ceremony will always make it more personal, more meaningful and more memorable.

Do I recommend smaller weddings? Absolutely, and for a dream venue in Gloucestershire I highly recommend you check out White Birch Manor | Events Venue

What will you have read at your funeral?

I’m most well known for the weddings I create but I do also write and deliver funerals too. In this role I have the great pleasure of being introduced to poems and readings I haven’t previously heard.

This was one I was asked to read recently- although we changed the location in the first line! I like it so much I want it at my own funeral and again would change the location, this time to Cape Cornwall.

Scatter my ashes at Pemaquid Point,
Let the wind sail them home to the sea.
Cradle of life, be my cradle in death,
And set my spirit free.

Sun will warm the daylight hours;
The lighthouse illume the night;
Waves provide rhythm and gulls give voice—
Music to ease my flight.

Eternal rocks will form my tomb,
Sand my quilt shall be,
Protecting from shipwreck and raging storms,
And I’ll become one with the sea.

Have you sorted your own funeral readings?

The photo is of the actual Pemaquid Point which is in Maine, USA.

Need help to find the best Gloucestershire Celebrant for you?

Reviews are a great starting point. Here’s my latest;

“I couldn't be happier that I found Julia when looking for a celebrant to conduct our wedding ceremony.

From the first conversation, I knew we had made the right decision. Julia is warm, calming & really got to know the ins and outs of us as a couple.

The ceremony was absolutely perfect and all of our guests commented on how personal and authentic it was.

Julia puts so much work in before and during the ceremony to make sure you are happy and is always open to new ideas.

If you are looking for a celebrant, you are in such safe hands with Julia!” Rhianna & James

Choosing the right celebrant isn’t just another box to tick; you are choosing the person who will shape how that moment feels, how it flows, and how it stays in your memory forever. The right celebrant will make you feel calm, understood and in safe hands from the very first conversation.

Here are five questions worth asking before you decide.

When you have the answers choose the celebrant who makes you feel completely confident—they’ll become one of the best decisions you make for your wedding.

A truly personal ceremony shouldn’t feel like a template with your names added. Ask how your celebrant discovers your story and turns it into a ceremony that sounds unmistakably like you.

Writing a ceremony is only half the job. Ask how many ceremonies they’ve led and how they’ll keep everyone engaged from beginning to end.

The best celebrants don’t just write beautiful words. Ask what strategies they have to help you enjoy every moment when the big day arrives.

Your ceremony should feel intentional and meaningful, shaped entirely around what matters most to you. Ask how they create the ceremony and how you influence the final decisions.

Ask what words come up most frequently in their reviews - Look for words like warmth, professionalism, calm confidence and exceptional delivery—these are what transform a ceremony from lovely into unforgettable.

When the bride interrupted her post wedding bliss to give me roses and a very special thank you card it was very special ♥️

Today was Sarah and Nigel’s wedding and it was a wedding that had been a long time coming !

Emotions were running high but the bride and groom held it together and everyone was delighted to finally see them ‘tie the knot’ - quite literally as they took part in a very special hand-tying moment.

Thanks for asking me to be your Celebrant ♥️

Great to work with J.Webber Photography and Matt at the Royal Oak

Did you even know there was a choice?

Understanding that you have a choice who conducts your wedding ceremony is enlightening for so many couples.

Not sure how it works?

Here is the process outlined in full:

Instead of booking a Registrar to come to the venue on your wedding day you arrange to ‘give notice’ and book a standard/statutory registration at your local Register Office for yourself and 2 witnesses (often referred to as a 2+2). You can book a Standard Registration up to 12 months in advance. This is a very simple and cost effective way to complete your legal Marriage Registration. Most of the couples I work with choose to do this a few days before their wedding ceremony.

When you book your venue let them know you are having an Independent Celebrant led ceremony. (Independent Celebrants can work in any type of venue including venues that are approved for Marriage Registration- you don’t have to have a Registrar in this type of venue!)

Once your Marriage Registration is booked then book an Independent Celebrant to work with you in the year or months leading up to your wedding. Your chosen Celebrant will get to know you and write and deliver a bespoke wonderful wedding ceremony for you at the venue. Your Celebrant ceremony can include any traditional elements you want, such as an “I do” moment, personal vows, ring exchange if that’s your preference, it can have a totally creative twist if that’s more their style or it can be the perfect blend of old and new.

Either way it will be a ceremony full of personalisation, one that truly sums up the two of you. Your guests will recognise it as your perfect ceremony- written just for you.

Registrars do a great job of registering marriage, Independent Celebrants create bespoke ceremonies from scratch - choose the person best suited for the job!

I’m based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and I work all over the Cotswolds. If you are planning a wedding in the Cotswolds get in touch soon, I’d love to talk more about your wedding. Dm me your date to check my availability ♥️
