Sometimes a familiar Bible story contains details we may have forgotten.
Here's one that sent me back to Genesis.
When Jacob dreamed at Bethel, what did he actually see connecting earth and heaven?
I'm not going to give the answer here. 😊
Have a look at Genesis 28:12 and see exactly how Scripture describes it.
One reason I enjoy Bible questions is that the real value isn't simply knowing an answer. It's being encouraged to open the Bible again—and sometimes noticing something we have read past before.

Some books begin with a story. Others begin with a question.

One of the questions behind Forgiveness: The Divine Principle That Sets You Free was this:

Can we forgive without pretending that what happened was acceptable?

I have come to understand that biblical forgiveness does not require us to call wrong right or deny the reality of hurt.

But neither does Christ call us to remain imprisoned by what someone else has done.

That tension became part of the reason I wanted to explore forgiveness more deeply.

I am still learning what the grace of God teaches us about releasing what we cannot change.

What do you think forgiveness does—and does not—mean?

An Ordinary Monday Can Honour Christ Too

Christian faith belongs in ordinary life too—our work, our promises, the way we treat people and what we do when nobody is watching.

Colossians 3:23 reminds us that even everyday responsibilities can be done for the Lord.

What does it really mean that Christ is our peace?
Paul writes:
“He Himself is our peace.” — Ephesians 2:14
The more I reflect on those words, the more profound they become.
The Gospel does not merely reconcile us individually to God. In Christ, people separated by history and background are brought together.
Jew and Gentile. Different stories. Yet one Saviour.
I am still studying and learning what Scripture teaches about this, but perhaps there is something here for all of us:
True reconciliation ultimately finds its centre in Christ.
📖 That They May Be Saved explores this wider biblical story.

If you have ever wanted to understand Israel's place in the biblical story without beginning with today's political arguments, this is the kind of reader I had in mind when writing That They May Be Saved.
The book follows the story through covenant, preservation, the coming of Christ, the inclusion of the Gentiles, and Paul's longing for salvation.
I do not claim to have answered every difficult question. I am still studying and learning.
My hope is simply to encourage Christians to return to Scripture and consider the subject with humility, clarity and love.

As Christians, it is easy to begin the story with ourselves.

But Scripture takes us much further back.

God called Abraham and promised:

“All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” — Genesis 12:3

From Abraham came a people. Through that people came the Scriptures, the prophets—and ultimately Jesus Christ.

And then the blessing reached outward to the nations.

I've been reflecting on this larger story while writing That They May Be Saved.

I am still learning and exploring its depth, but one thing increasingly strikes me:

Understanding where the story began can deepen our gratitude for where, by grace, we have been brought.

One thing A&E continues to teach me is that not every answer comes immediately.

Sometimes the diagnosis is clear very quickly. At other times, the picture develops through examination, investigation, observation, clinical judgement—and sometimes simply time.

That uncertainty can be difficult for patients, families and clinicians alike. We all prefer certainty.

Yet life outside medicine can be like that too.

There are seasons when I would like God to show me the whole picture, but He doesn't always do so.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Perhaps faith is sometimes trusting Christ while the picture is still becoming clear.

What does Paul mean by “the root”?

Romans 11:18 says:

“You do not support the root, but the root supports you.”

I've been reflecting on Romans 9–11 again while thinking about That They May Be Saved.

I'm still studying and learning, but this passage continually brings me back to humility.

So rather than giving my answer first, I'd like to hear yours:

What do you think Paul means by “the root”?

Perhaps we can explore it together.

I didn't write That They May Be Saved to win an argument about Israel.

It grew from a burden.

I kept returning to Paul's words:

“My heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.” — Romans 10:1

The subject is complex, and I am still studying and learning.

But Paul's posture challenges me: conviction without superiority; truth held together with love; and ultimately a longing for people to be reconciled to God through Christ.

That is the heart behind this book.

Less Argument, More Prayer | Romans 10:1

Paul's concern for Israel was more than theological discussion—it moved him to prayer.

Romans 10:1 reminds us that difficult biblical subjects should be approached with humility, love and a heart turned towards God.

A short Sunday reflection on prayer, Scripture and the posture of the heart.
