As we head into the cosy autumnal season, our September reading challenge will be to read a book by an author you love 🧡

Hannah will be re-reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas (in anticipation of the sixth books release)!

Jack will be reading Sharp Ends by his current favourite author Joe Abercrombie!

Join in and tag us if you manage to complete this month’s challenge! There will be a special prize at the end for everyone who manages to complete all 12 📚

Introducing ‘After Hours’ at Paper Moon! We will be hosting evening talks at Paper Moon Bookshop, and to kick us off we have Dr David Stokes!

Drawing on his new novel, Sermon of the Wolf, David Stokes tells the story of a wedding and four funerals that proved to be the prelude to the Norman Conquest.

When Emma, the Norman queen of England, married a Viking Conqueror, it led to peace for the first time in a generation. Twenty years later, treachery and murder staged here in Guildford sounded the death knell of Anglo-Saxon England.

Join us on October 15th, where David Stokes will discuss his latest novel, and the massacre in Guildford that inspired it.

Welcome back to Poetry Nights at Paper Moon Bookshop!

We took a break due to the very warm weather and are looking forward to welcoming back Surrey’s poets.

Our Poetry Evenings will now fall on the last Friday of the month, and from October onwards we will regularly have a featured poet.

Whether you’re an experienced poet, speaking for the first time, or just looking to listen, join us for an evening of wonderful poetry.

We have had some wonderful donations of newly published titles such as Heart the Lover by Lily King and Solace House by Will Maclean, as well as booker winners and nominees David Szaley and Benjamin Wood!

We are now accepting donations at the shop for books you’ve loved and have no space for, or books that perhaps weren’t for you but you know someone else will enjoy!

Paper Moon turns 1 TODAY!

It is hard to believe that the dreams we discussed three years ago, when we first met, have led to us opening our own book shop together!

Jack and I are so proud of Paper Moon and all we have achieved this past year and we couldn’t have done it without our friends, family and wonderful customers! 

While it is not easy running an independent business in 2026, we have honestly had the best year of our lives and wouldn’t change a second of it. 

Enjoy this collection of some of our favourite memories over the past year, and fingers crossed there are many more to come.

We are turning ONE on Saturday! 🎊

How the year has flown by, it genuinely feels like we have only been here a month or two!

I will save the soppy post for Saturday, but I did want to encourage you all to pop in on the weekend to say hi and celebrate with us! 🥳

We will have:

🍬 Sweets and chocolate

🏆 A mini competition guessing how many books we had on our shelves the day of opening

📚 A few bookish giveaways

⭐️ Double stamps on any hardbacks bought over the weekend!
