Our Burnished Brass is brass at its brightest, warm, softly textured and hand finished in our Suffolk workshop. Each piece is then lacquered to preserve the colour and protect the surface from natural patination.

Which means the finish you choose is the finish you live with.

No gradual darkening, patchy wear where hands go, or tarnishing in the corners of a steamy bathroom. Choose the cupboard k***s now and renovate the utility room in two years’ time, and the finish will still match.

Particularly useful for kitchens, bathrooms and all those hardworking parts of the home where the smallest details are often the most used.

A kitchen is full of big decisions. The cabinetry, worktops, flooring and colour are often settled months before the room is finished.

It’s often only later that attention turns to the details, the hardware, lighting and finishes that quietly connect one part of a room to another.

Here, our hand-blown Walcot Pendants help bring the kitchen together. Seemingly small decisions, but ones that can completely change how a finished room feels.

If you’re planning a kitchen renovation, it’s worth thinking about the finishing details a little earlier. Explore our handcrafted lighting and hardware for more ideas: [link]

We wanted the warmth of brass, but with a cleaner, brighter finish.

Our Burnished Brass is softly textured rather than highly polished, giving it a beautiful, even surface that catches the light without feeling overly shiny.

Each piece is hand finished in our Suffolk workshop and lacquered to preserve its colour, making it particularly practical for the details you use every day.

Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing a little more about how it is made, where it works best and the materials we love to pair it with.

A renovation is made up of an extraordinary number of decisions. And, unfortunately, some of the smallest, and most important, are often left until the very end.

By then, the kitchen has been chosen, the bathroom planned and the paint colours decided. It’s often only afterwards that attention turns to the handles, switches, sockets and lights.

Yet these are the things you’ll go on to use every day. The cupboard handle you reach for each morning, the switch beside the door, or the light you turn on as the afternoons begin to dim.

There is a huge amount of character to be found in these smaller details, and they have a wonderful way of making a room feel complete.

We’ve been making them in our Suffolk workshop for over thirty years, so this month we’re sharing some of what we’ve learnt along the way, when to make those decisions, what to measure and the things worth considering before the work begins.

Not sure what your interior style actually is?

Start with the house itself. Its age, natural light, proportions and original details can often tell you more than the latest interiors trend.

Then notice what you keep coming back to, certain colours, natural materials, old furniture or a mix of old and new. There really are no rules; the best homes simply feel personal to the people living in them.

There is something rather lovely about hearing from customers who have lived with our pieces for years.

We have always believed that good design should last beyond a decorating trend. From the person who answers the telephone to the people who make and carefully pack each piece in our Suffolk workshop, we want every part of buying from Jim Lawrence to feel considered.

So, it means a great deal when customers come back to us over the years, choosing pieces for new rooms, renovations and the homes they continue to make their own.

Thank you, Beverley, for such kind words, and for continuing to make a place for Jim Lawrence in your home.

The homes we admire are often shaped by the places they're rooted in.

Our Suffolk showroom sits on the outskirts of Hadleigh, a historic market town where craftsmanship and beautiful architecture has long been part of the landscape. It's a fitting home for a collection built on the same principles.

Inside, you'll find our entire range of lighting, hardware, switches, curtain poles, fabrics and furniture displayed together, making it easier to see how each piece contributes to a home that feels calm, practical and lasting.

If you're looking for interior design inspiration, planning a home renovation, or simply enjoy exploring English interiors, we'd love to welcome you.

At The Woodcote, each space has its own atmosphere. A quiet breakfast nook, a light-filled dining room and a welcoming bar all feel distinct, yet connected.

Our Balmoral Wall Light, Club Wall Light and Flush Club Ceiling Lights were chosen to do exactly that. Different fittings for different moments, all crafted in the same honest materials and quiet proportions, creating a sense of continuity as you move through the building.

It's a reminder that good lighting isn't about making every room look the same. It's about giving each space its own purpose while ensuring the whole feels beautifully considered.

A kettle switched on. A favourite mug taken from its hook. The light above the worktop. Small routines repeated so often they become part of the home itself.

At Jim Lawrence, we've always believed these everyday details deserve just as much thought as the room around them. That's why we craft everything from lighting and sockets to cupboard k***s, hanging rails and shelf brackets in solid antique brass. They're the pieces you reach for every day, designed to bring quiet satisfaction to the rituals that begin each morning.

Because the things we use most should also be the things we enjoy most.
