This page looks chaotic, a mess of scribble. But honestly this was a fab thing that happened in class this morning. I had a plan in mind for a brooch but couldn’t settle on how to deal with the clasp. It was too visible and I couldn’t work out how to hide it. So we bounced ideas around, added thoughts to the page, looked at other designs and thought about why they worked or did not. And then discovered the solution ! Don’t hide the clasp ! Make it part of the design ! Show it off ! I call that time well spent. I’ve just got to make it now 😁.

See those tiny pink garnets ? They are there for a reason. Not just to be pretty but to bring life and vibrancy to the beautiful black onyx beads. I’ve started work on this little ocean Jasper necklace this week. Ocean Jasper comes from Madagascar I believe and if I understand correctly is getting harder to find. I’ll keep you posted on progress so you can see how this necklace develops.

I don’t only set stones in to silver. I also use gemstone beads to make gorgeous necklaces. This one, a pink moonstone bead necklace with silver clasp, will be found at the weekend of 19th and 20th September. I’ll be at venue 12. So come and find me.

Tiny but rich with colour these little chalcedonies will make the most delightful earrings. When I’ve set that second stone of course. One step at a time, one at a time 😁
