One of the biggest misconceptions about personalised products and branded workwear is that you can simply send a picture, press a button and itโ€™s ready to go.

Unfortunately, it doesnโ€™t quite work like that! ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ’ป ๐…๐จ๐ซ ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ซ๐จ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ, an image needs to be ๐๐ข๐ ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ. The artwork has to be converted into a stitch file that my embroidery machine can understand. It isnโ€™t simply printing the picture with thread!

๐Ÿ–จ๏ธ ๐…๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ , the artwork needs to be prepared into the correct file format and resolution so that it prints ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ง, ๐œ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฉ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ. A photo or screenshot isnโ€™t necessarily print-ready.

โœ‚๏ธ Depending on the design, the artwork may also need cleaning up, resizing, removing backgrounds, adjusting colours or making other changes before it can be produced.

So when you see me preparing artwork before I start making your item, ๐ญ๐ก๐š๐ญโ€™๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š ๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐ข๐œ ๐›๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ๐จ๐ง! ๐Ÿ˜‚

The reality? I donโ€™t necessarily have more free time โ€” I have the freedom to choose what I do with my time. And this week, Iโ€™ve certainly been choosing to keep busy!

โœจ Booking pop-ups
โœจ Organising my second ๐’๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ค๐ž๐ญ, taking place on 13th September
โœจ Working behind the scenes on ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ ๐ž๐ฑ๐œ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ง๐ž๐ฐ ๐ž๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ that Iโ€™m developing for my business โ€” both taking me in very different directions ๐Ÿ‘€

And then thereโ€™s the weekendโ€ฆ

Contrary to popular belief, weekends arenโ€™t necessarily weekends when youโ€™re self-employed! ๐Ÿ˜‚

For me, weekends are often work days too, especially as this is when the majority of my ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ-๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ go out. And that can also mean balloon decor, backdrops and table settings โ€” so thereโ€™s plenty of loading, delivering, setting up and collecting involved.

But do you know what? ๐ˆ ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฌ๐ž ๐ข๐ญ. โค๏ธ

I choose to build my businesses.
I choose to try new things.
I choose to keep learning and developing.
And I choose to create something that Iโ€™m genuinely proud of.

Thereโ€™s a lot more to being self-employed than people see from the outsideโ€ฆ but thatโ€™s also what makes it so rewarding.
