We certainly cannot take credit for these pictures as they were posted by Alzheimer's Society, however we would love to say how much we agree with all of this information.

Being a safeguarding company that utilises technology ourselves, we understand how rapidly technology and AI is changing. Although we use these things for good, it can often be daunting just how quickly things change, and how often humans are feeling replaced by technology and artificial intelligence.

The one thing we all have though, is eachother. Human connection and conversation is so incredibly important, especially in this day & age.

The things listed in this post are so important for keeping the brain ticking over, and for ensuring humans and their connections will forever remain 💘🦋🌟

We were very grateful to have been allowed a space at the dementia awareness day in Ealing Ealing Council today. 💘

Paul Boyce from CareUK was unable to attend last minute and so gave us the opportunity to have his space in his place; we are always grateful for Paul’s support and belief in us, as well as everyone else who has always advocated and helped us along the way 🤍

There were two very interesting talks from CIDS (Cognitive Impairment and Dementia Service, an NHS mental health team specialising in dementia care), and a music therapy & dementia talk, which were both very insightful. 🎶 🧠

We made some lovely connections with people within the care sector, and had some nice chats with members of the local community. 💬 💭

As members of the council who were there today mentioned, please remember to hydrate in this hot weather, eat enough and try and rest🫶🏼Especially if you’re living with dementia or have a loved one with dementia. ❤️

Looking forward to future events 😊

The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme is now being piloted in Plymouth by Devon & Cornwall Police in collaboration with us and Memory Matters 💙

We are incredibly proud to have worked with Devon & Cornwall Police and Memory Matters on this important initiative - something that all of us at Lumiio feel deeply passionate about.

Lumiio was founded from the desire and need for simpler, more accessible safeguarding solutions that are easy to use while helping protect vulnerable members of our communities. By utilising our NFC technology alongside our medical-grade silicone wristbands and hang tags, Devon & Cornwall Police will now be distributing these products within the community as part of the pilot scheme.

Sergeant Dan Timmins said:

“This is a scheme that I hope will empower and safeguard a lot of people to live independently. Living with dementia can be challenging, and we see many people who repeatedly go missing. People with dementia who go missing are extremely vulnerable, and these devices can quickly prevent these individuals from coming to harm, sometimes even before emergency services need to be contacted.

I want to encourage people to be upstanders and help anyone who looks lost or confused, whether they are wearing one of our devices or not. Taking a few seconds out of your day to check on someone can make a world of difference. Almost anyone with a smartphone can use the NFC tags; all you need to do is hold your phone over the code.

If you know someone who could benefit from this scheme, please encourage them to sign up.”

We are so grateful to have been trusted to provide our technology and products for such a meaningful project. Safeguarding and accessibility will always remain at the heart of what we do.

Remember - be the person you’d hope to encounter if you or a loved one ever needed help 💙

Working with Devon & Cornwall Police and Memory Matters on this incredible initiative has been a fantastic opportunity for us at Lumiio.☺️

Being able to provide ground-breaking, accessible technology and products that can make a real difference is a true privilege, and we’re incredibly grateful for their support and belief in what we do. In turn, we have huge admiration for the amazing work they continue to do in creating safer, more dementia-friendly communities.

Knowing there are police forces and organisations willing to push for better support, greater accessibility, and safer environments for vulnerable individuals is exactly why we do what we do - and why Lumiio was founded in the first place.

If you or a loved one are living with dementia, please don’t hesitate to visit our website or social media pages, where you can purchase directly and learn more about our products and mission. We’re also expanding our range, with an epilepsy collection launching soon, a children’s range arriving at the end of June, and additional NFC-enabled products already being implemented by organisations and councils across the country.

Lumiio was founded to help safeguard vulnerable individuals, with accessibility and simplicity always at the forefront of our minds. Our technology is designed to work with any modern smartphone, making it easy, intuitive, and there whenever it’s needed most.

A huge thank you again to Devon & Cornwall Police and Memory Matters for your support and collaboration. We wish you every success with this scheme - and congratulations on such an important initiative.🤝🌟

Working with Devon & Cornwall Police and Memory Matters has been a truly fantastic opportunity.

We were so pleased that we were able to provide the amazing technology that is NFC alongside our medical-grade silicone wristbands and hang tags, in this push to safeguard and protect vulnerable individuals living with dementia.

This scheme, launching in Plymouth, will hopefully see an increase in the protection of vulnerable individuals and the raising of awareness of dementia and how best to look after those living with it.

Collaborating with police forces and organisations such as these is why we create what we create & do what we do, and the support always means so much.

🧠🩷📱

We've teamed up with Memory Matters to bring a pilot scheme to Plymouth which hopes to safeguard people diagnosed with dementia.

People with dementia may have trouble remembering places and landmarks or processing new information which increases the risk of them going missing. Inspired by work in other police forces, the new Dementia Safeguarding Scheme hopes to reduce wandering episodes that become missing person searches.

The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme will be piloted in Plymouth. It is open to residents in the city who are diagnosed with dementia. The individual, or their next-of-kin or carer, with consent, can sign up to the scheme online.

After signing up to the scheme, people are given wearable devices that can help if they get lost or disoriented. They are free of charge thanks to a donation from Memory Matters' charitable arm, Memory Matters Foundation.

The hangtags and wristbands from Lumiio use Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that stores basic information about a person, usually contact details for their next of kin or carer. They can be scanned by most smartphones without the need to download an app, allowing anyone to call for help. The Life 360 Tile uses Bluetooth to show the Tile’s last known location. All the information on the Tile is controlled by the owner or those who support them, not the police.

Combined, these devices will help people return home safely and reduce the need for police searches.

Sergeant Dan Timmins, the officer responsible for bringing the scheme to Plymouth, said: “This is a scheme that I hope will empower and safeguard a lot of people to live independently. Living with dementia can be challenging, and we see many people who repeatedly go missing. People with dementia who go missing are extremely vulnerable, and these devices can quickly prevent these individuals from coming to harm, sometimes even before emergency services need to be contacted.

“I want to encourage people to be upstanders and help anyone who looks lost or confused, whether they are wearing one of our devices or not. Taking a few seconds out of your day to check on someone can make a world of difference. Almost anyone with a smartphone can use the NFC tags; all you need to do is hold your phone over the code.

“If you know someone who could benefit from this scheme, please encourage them to sign up.”

Kate Smith, CEO of Memory Matters, said: “Too often, people living with dementia and their families are left carrying the fear and stress of someone becoming lost or disoriented. This scheme is about giving people greater confidence, independence and safety, while also giving families peace of mind.

At Memory Matters, we know how important practical community support is, and projects like this only happen because of fundraising and charitable investment. Through the support of the Memory Matters Foundation, we are proud to help fund devices that can make a real difference to someone’s everyday life and potentially prevent a vulnerable person from coming to harm.

This partnership shows what can happen when charities, communities and public services work together with a shared purpose, helping people with dementia stay connected, supported and safe within their communities.”

This Dementia Action Week, there have been so many fantastic events taking place across London, and we were lucky enough to be invited along to the Living Well with Dementia event in Staines yesterday! ☀️

A huge thank you to Anja from Companionship Services Ltd. for giving us a stall at the event, and another big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us, ask questions, and show an interest in who we are and what we do. It was wonderful to connect with so many members of the local community.

Alongside meeting members of the public, we also had the opportunity to speak with other organisations attending the event, including the police, the council, and several incredible care providers who are all working hard to deliver high-quality support and care.

One of the standout moments of the day was the incredible dementia choir from Purple Angel - Spelthorne Dementia Support their energy, enthusiasm, and happiness were amazing to watch, and they sounded great. A crowd gathered to support them, and it was such a lovely reminder of how music and community can bring people together, regardless of background or experience. We loved it.

With the sun shining and such positive energy throughout the day, we had a wonderful time.

We’re so excited to continue building the connections we’ve made through these events and to see where these opportunities may lead. Finally, a very special thank you to everyone who has believed in us from the very beginning and continues to champion our innovative and accessible solution. 💙

We had the fantastic opportunity to attend the event at Syon Park Conservatory on Wednesday - and what a brilliant day it was! ☀️

Not only was the sun shining, but there was live music, activities, refreshments, and so many lovely people from all walks of life who stopped by to chat with us and support such an important cause in their own time.

A huge thank you to the organisers of the event, as well as everyone who has supported us and believed in us from the very beginning. We believe in what we’re building, and it means so much to know that so many of you believe in us too.

Events like these make us incredibly proud to provide support and peace of mind for those living with dementia, as well as their loved ones and carers. They also remind us that we are making real progress towards creating safer, more understanding communities.

We hope everyone has had a meaningful Dementia Action Week and has taken the opportunity to keep dementia awareness at the forefront - whether through conversations, community events, or simply learning more about how we can support those living with dementia.

And finally, a big thank you to everyone who organises and supports events like these - they truly make a difference. 💙
