🌧️ Collect rainwater in a water butt
💦 Prioritise newly planted plants, containers & hanging baskets
🌿 Mulch your borders to help lock in moisture

What to do in the garden this August 🌿
August is all about keeping your garden blooming, enjoying your harvest and getting ready for the seasons ahead!

💧 Water wisely – If you’re on a hosepipe ban, use a watering can and focus on the base of plants. Water early morning or evening, and prioritise containers, hanging baskets and newly planted plants.

🌸 Keep deadheading – Remove faded flowers from roses, dahlias, cosmos, marigolds, geraniums and petunias to encourage more blooms.

🍓 Harvest regularly – Pick tomatoes, courgettes, runner beans, cucumbers, peppers and berries regularly to encourage plants to keep producing.

✂️ Trim lavender & shrubs – Give lavender a light trim after flowering and tidy summer-flowering shrubs once they’ve finished blooming.
