Being a Northern lass, I call a spade a spade.. but look what I found when I turned an old broken spade handle. ( Woodturners Rule no.1- never say no when offered wood!)

So, I call this spade a very nice bottle opener and bottle stopper.

Another ring keeper box made today. The wood is local- a swap with another turner. I’m told it is walnut - beautiful grain and colours but this piece fought me all the way! 🫣😁
I won in the end 🏆

My lovely friends bought me a pizza cutter kit for my birthday.
I’ve been saving this beautiful piece of olive wood for something special- and this was it!
Just need to organise a pizza night now!🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

New ( old) tool alert! 😁 A bargain- couldn’t resist!

On the left is a skew chisel- brilliant for cutting parallel sided cylinders, v cuts and smooth shapes but you need to keep it under close control. Slight lapse of attention and it will dig in viciously and ruin your work.

On the right is a spindle gouge which is great for cutting coves, beads and details when used respectfully.

In the middle is my new(old) tool. It’s called a skewchigouge- a sort of mongrel of the other two. I haven’t tried one before..I’ll report back 🤔

A bit of a delay as I have been bumbling around the Broads visiting family…but:

🦎Chameleon colours 🦎

This platter is made from beautiful tulipwood. I carved the rim and used a special chameleon paint which looks a rich green and/or purple depending on the light.
Available at The Little Studio on The Street, Ash pop up sale this weekend (2/3/4th May) 10am to 4.30pm each day.
