Happy Sunday!

We’ve had two beautiful new pieces arrive from Charlotte Gurran , both bringing together soft blues, greens and warmer earthy tones.

•

Charlotte has created a lovely sense of movement through layered colour and expressive marks that seem to sweep through the landscape, giving both pieces such a strong sense of atmosphere.

•

Together, they capture that familiar shift in the Lake District at this time of year, when the greens begin to soften, warmer tones start to appear and the landscape takes on a completely different feel.

Another lovely delivery has arrived from .b_ceramics, including more of her Raku fired sheep and rock pots, alongside a beautiful new collection of landscape trays. 🐑

There’s so much charm in the little details, from the textured hills and stone walls to the miniature sheep dotted across each piece. Every one feels like its own tiny Lake District scene.⛰️

•

Sitting alongside them are two original paintings by , and we couldn’t help noticing how beautifully they work together. The sheep almost look as though they could wander straight into Lindsay’s beautiful landscapes.

Such a lovely pairing of two artists capturing the character of the Lake District in completely different ways. We have a selection of both Lucy and Lindsay’s work in the gallery at the moment!

Two years of Pole Star Gallery⭐️

It’s been two years since Pole Star opened its doors in Keswick, and in that time the gallery has never really stood still. New artists have joined us, the walls have changed countless times, beautiful pieces have come and gone, and so many lovely people have stepped through the door along the way.

•

We’re so grateful to all of the amazing artists and makers who have filled the gallery with such beautiful work, and to every customer who has visited, supported us and taken a piece of Pole Star home with them. Watching the space change with each new arrival and seeing pieces find their new homes has been such a special part of the last two years.

•

So it feels quite fitting that, as we mark two years, the gallery is changing once again. Our top floor has just had a fresh coat of paint and a complete rehang, giving the space a lovely new feel and a bit of a birthday makeover.

•

Here’s a little sneak peek of how it’s looking now. We’ll be sharing more of the process soon, so stay tuned for a closer look…

We’ve had two lovely new pieces arrive from the wonderful Charlotte Gurran 💙✨

There’s such a beautiful balance in these paintings between rich blues, earthy greens and softer golden tones. Charlotte has such a way of capturing the Lake District that feels less about a single view and more about creating something immersive… the movement, the changing light and the subtle conversation between land and sky.

•

Charlotte spends a lot of time closely connected to the landscape, and you really feel that in the work. Her paintings have a way of pulling you back into those familiar moments outdoors and making you notice the colours, shapes and shifting layers of the fells a little differently.

•

One of the new pieces, Gilded Gorge, is presented in a beautiful gilded gold frame, which brings out those warmer, earthy tones so well and feels like something a little different for the gallery.

Both Aqua Rise and Gilded Gorge are now available on our website, alongside more of Charlotte’s work. We’ll link them in our story, or pop in and see them in person. 🤍

We’re delighted to welcome to Pole Star Gallery!

There’s something really special about spotting wildlife when you’re out walking. An owl overhead, a hare in the distance, a deer amongst the trees. Ashley’s work captures that feeling so beautifully and makes you notice those quieter moments in nature.

•

Ashley combines hand drawn illustration with cyanotype, using sunlight and a light sensitive process to create that deep blue background. The white detail against the blue works so well with his wildlife drawings and really brings out the feathers, fur and movement in each piece.

•

A lot of Ashley’s inspiration comes from time spent walking the fells and noticing the smaller details around him, from the shapes of plants to the movement of ferns and changes in light.

•

We’ve got a lovely range of Ashley’s prints in the gallery at the moment, featuring some very familiar faces from the Cumbrian landscape. Pop in and have a look next time you’re in Keswick. 💙

Our easels have been displaying some gorgeous artwork recently! 🎨

We have two striking canvases by Lily Greenwood in the gallery at the moment, Butterflies on Pale Greens/Grey and Koi Flow.

•

Lily’s mixed media work is instantly recognisable, bringing together painted, textured backgrounds with incredibly detailed imagery. Butterflies on Pale Greens/Grey has a much softer, lighter palette, allowing the colour and movement of the butterflies to take centre stage, while Koi Flow is richer and more dramatic, with koi moving through deep blues, greens and warmer tones.

Both pieces are now live on our website, along with a selection of Lily’s other work currently available. We’ll link them in our story, or pop in to see them in the gallery.

C L A I R E J O has been back to the Lakes and delivered us some beautiful new paintings. 🤍

There’s something so captivating about Claire’s use of colour. From a distance, her landscapes feel calm and familiar, but the closer you look, the more they come alive. Cerulean blues and luminous greens weave their way through the fells and water, with soft ochres catching the light and settling into every ridge, rock and river.

•

Working with layers of paint, expressive mark making and delicate scratched lines, Claire builds each landscape with incredible energy. Those subtle marks trace the contours of the land, giving a real sense of movement and depth, while her unexpected colour combinations create paintings that feel both recognisable and wonderfully atmospheric.

•

These latest arrivals are a beautiful reminder that the Lake District is never just one colour. Each painting captures a different mood, inviting you to pause and look a little longer.

We’re delighted to welcome Robyn Kinsman Blake to Pole Star Gallery. 🌙

After graduating in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Edinburgh College of Art, Robyn has been creating handcrafted sterling silver jewellery from her family gallery and studio. Her collection is full of beautifully considered details, with each piece carefully made by hand.

•

Inspired by the stories found in nature, Robyn’s jewellery captures graceful swallows in flight, curious hares beneath the moon and delicate botanical details in beautifully handcrafted sterling silver. Every piece feels full of movement, imagination and quiet charm, inviting its own little fairytale to unfold.

•

Wherever possible, Robyn uses recycled and ethically sourced materials, creating jewellery that is as thoughtful in its making as it is in its design. We’re so excited to share her collection with you and can’t wait for you to discover these beautifully crafted pieces in the gallery!
