Only ten minutes later, Tommy doubled the advantage after latching onto a loose ball and firing high past the goalkeeper to make it 2–0. The away side continued to dominate possession, with Cieran, Blair, Issac, Ryan, and Lee orchestrating play through crisp passing and intelligent movement in midfield.

At the back, Rhys and Jaxen were unshakable in central defence, supported superbly by Findlay and Damon, whose composure and awareness denied Shortlees any real attacking momentum. Following the restart, Tommy moved into the central striking role and immediately made his presence felt. His strength, hold-up play, and blistering pace stretched the Shortlees defence throughout the half.

Issac added a third goal with a fine solo effort, cutting in from the right and finishing clinically. Moments later, Cieran made it 4 with a composed strike from the left of the box after sustained pressure.

KFA’s fifth goal was a textbook team move: Lee launched a precise long ball up the right to Blair, whose perfect through pass split the defence and found Tommy, who finished first-time into the corner. It was a sweeping passage of play that encapsulated KFA’s style — quick, fluid, and unselfish.

Shortly after, Findlay, now playing higher up the field, diverted a goalbound effort into the net to make it 6 sending the keeper the wrong way. The scoring was completed when Tommy struck again late on, sliding the ball under the goalkeeper to seal both his hat-trick and a comprehensive win.

Team Performance

The defensive unit — Rhys, Jaxen, Findlay, and Damon — were resolute and disciplined throughout. Rhys and Jaxen’s partnership in central defence was particularly impressive, never allowing the hosts any clear chances. Damon showed great reliability, while Findlay’s attacking runs added an extra dimension going forward.

In midfield, Cieran and Issac’s relentless energy kept Shortlees pinned back. I have arranged a wee day out for the KFA kids. If you would like your child to attend please let me know in the KFA Whatsapp through the Poll. Please can you update ASAP as I need to confirm to Kilmarnock Football club the numbers for tickets. If you plan on letting the Kids attend please can you make sure the have a few quid for a wee drink or something to eat. We will meet at the ticket office at 2:30pm....... Kilwinning Football Academy produced a dominant display to overpower Stewarton Annick with a resounding victory in a one-sided encounter. From the first whistle, KFA dictated the tempo and showcased a level of attacking flair and defensive discipline that left the home side with little room to breathe.

First Half: Control from the Outset

KFA’s intent was clear from the start as they pressed high and pinned Stewarton inside their own half. Goalkeeper Jamie was largely untested in the opening 45 minutes but remained composed when called upon.

At the back, Jaxen marshalled the defence superbly, intercepting almost every attacking attempt Stewarton managed to muster. His control and composure set the tone, while Findlay provided excellent cover, mopping up loose balls. In midfield, Rhys anchored the play brilliantly — breaking up Stewarton’s moves with determined tackling and driving forward when opportunities presented themselves. His efforts were rewarded with a well-taken goal.

On the flanks, Blair and Tommy gave KFA constant width and energy, linking up with Arron, who joined the backline later in the match and impressed with his strong challenges and forward surges. His tireless display earned him a goal of his own.

Further upfield, KFA’s dominance continued. Lee’s vision and passing range unlocked the Stewarton defence time and again, combining with Ciaran, Tommy, and Blair to sustain waves of attack. One such move saw Lee’s shot deflect off a Stewarton defender for an own goal, a strike born from KFA’s relentless pressure.

Meanwhile, Harris led the line with tireless running and pressing, forcing mistakes and nearly adding his name to the scoresheet on several occasions. Though he was unlucky not to score, his work rate epitomised KFA’s hunger throughout.
