The granny square is really one of the most amazing and enduring designs in crochet.

From the humble standard granny square which is rooted in 60s rebellion from the status quo of fashion and society, looking for a more handmade ethos, to more modern iterations like flowers, rainbows, skulls, lacy delicate squares, blocky squares, whatever your personality, there is a granny square to be made.

How to get straight crochet edges on your crochet work. Chain 3 version of starting a round is always visibly different to the rest of the work, so these dc stitch variations can dramatically elevate your crochet work to look far more professional with a much cleaner look.

The standing double crochet can take a little practice but it’s so worth it to make all the stitches look the same. The standing double crochet is probably my favourite way of starting a row.

The stacked double crochet is the best way of getting really straight edges.

Using a slip knot and a standing crochet is a fantastic way of getting a clean colour change, especially in the middle of a row.

These stitch various also get rid of a happy join between rows in the middle of a piece of crochet.

Yeah but WTAF is not not pursuing your crochet business dreams after the age of 40, not buying all the yarn you want for just inspiration, leaving WIPS to get dusty in a pile if you’re not inspired, wearing your handmade crochet tops out and about and feeling completely blown away by the beauty of nature and taking it slow enough to appreciate it.
