A small bolt. A very expensive consequence. 😬
This Mk7 Golf was recovered to us after suddenly losing its gearbox oil.
Once on the ramp, the problem became fairly obvious — a piece of the gearbox casing was sitting on the undertray.
This car uses the 7-speed DQ381 DSG, and one failure we see associated with these units is the oil pump fixings coming loose. In this case, the resulting internal failure had actually broken through the gearbox casing, dumping the oil and leaving the transmission beyond economical repair.
A suitable replacement DQ381 gearbox was sourced, fitted and then correctly coded/adapted to the vehicle before final testing.
One relatively small internal failure → one very broken DSG. 😬
