A couple of tourists in Le Mans today.

The Cathedral was beautiful ! The Angel ceiling was stunning - I loved that the most - they had been white washed over and then rediscovered in the 1800s

Tram was great - cheap and very efficient .

Off to get the van now ! Yippee !!

On Tuesday a red light came on in the van for over heating. We stopped checked the water level - seemed ok. Called the insurance company who told us to call the Police which we did - they gave us a number to call which was not working that day as it was a holiday.
The insurance company arranged a recovery van so we sat on a blanket in the shade waiting for help.
He arrived checked it said it was ok now . So off we went but it wasn’t ok - now we also have loss of power.
We drove very slowly to a garage in the next city - their engineer says it is the water pump and belt which keeps the engine cool has to be replaced .
So just like this time last year we leave the van in a garage and hope they can fix it today - maybe tomorrow.
So a day out as a tourist and then hopefully we can collect the van and carry on with our trip !

I remembered to take some photos this morning !

The little shell to hold your pocket watch was delightful but decided not to buy.
I bought the chocolate menier box and the 2 printers trays, one is very unusual and has its original handle and of course some other nice things

Why the ferry ???

We couldn’t sleep - checked our phones at 2.30am this morning - a notice on the phone said 3.5 hr delay at Euro tunnel - we tried to change the ticket but couldn’t .

So …. We booked a ferry for the first time in maybe 10 years !

We got up very early - emptied the van and repacked with the one good trolley ( the other was run over by a car ) packed some clothes etc and the flasks with hot water for tea and set off ! ( I love my tea)

The journey down was not good but we made it in time - and found a couple of seats on the ship to see the beaches of France arrive over the horizon .

We have arrived at our accommodation after a nice meal and we think if we hadn’t changed our route - we would still be there as it is now 5.5 hour delay.

Can’t sleep - it’s 2.30 am !

Last week was so busy up & down to London for a funeral and then a fabulous happy couple of days Newark - thank goodness we did a lot of sorting out before .

Now a busy week ahead with lots of places to visit and appointments .
