Do you remember the Llangollen Pottery Jonah and the Whale piece I found? 🐋

I almost walked straight past it at the boot sale. Nearly wrote it off as an amateur piece — turns out I was being a complete do**us 🤣 I’m so glad I ended up grabbing it anyway because…

It sold within 3 days of listing! 🎉 And then this feedback landed and honestly made my whole week:

“Have looked for this item for many years, item honestly described, with wear and tear. Delivered quickly. Packaged very well to protect in transit. Thank you.”

So special to think I helped someone finally find something they’d been searching for, for years. Moments like this are exactly why I do what I do — even when my first instinct nearly let it slip by. 🤣🧡

When your outfit matches your new inventory 😂

Real talk though — I’m s**t at social media. And not because I don’t want to chat and get to know people. Honestly, if you met me in real life at a car boot, charity shop or yard sale I would no doubt be nattering away with someone! Stuart can vouch for this too 😂🤣

But between sourcing stock, listing it, packing and posting orders, and keeping up with customers, social media always ends up at the bottom of the pile. I’m going to be making a proper effort to do better — even if some days that just means a quick story instead of a full post.

I was really drawn to this one before I even knew what it was — picked it up in a fill-a-bag deal at the boot sale, and I couldn’t leave her behind even though I wasn’t entirely sure what I’d found.

Turns out there’s a little figure of Jonah curled up inside the whale, and the whole thing is a hand-painted piece of Welsh Llangollen pottery — that sells for well over £80! 😳🫣

This is exactly why I love a sourcing trip. You never know what’s waiting in the bottom of a box! 🥳

Three new EU rules every UK vintage reseller needs to know — and none of them are as scary as they sound.

1️⃣ The €3 customs “stack” — every parcel now carries a flat handling fee per item, and it adds up fast if you’re bundling pieces into one box.

2️⃣ Marketplaces vs. your own website — sell through eBay or Etsy and they handle collecting the charge for you. Sell through your own site and the responsibility shifts to you.

3️⃣ The Packaging Rule (EPR) — “producer” just means the sender. If you’re shipping materials into the EU, you’ll need to register in each country, or simply turn off shipping there.

No jargon, no panic — just what it actually means for small sellers like us.

This nondescript vase was tucked away, easy to miss — but something about the shape and that warm, aged patina…I couldn’t resist bringing it home to find out more. And oh boy, am I glad I trusted my gut!! 😍

Turns out it’s a genuine Japanese Meiji-era mixed-metal bronze vase, with the most beautiful cranes worked into the surface in silver — cranes that, in Japanese tradition, symbolise good fortune and long life. That soft gold-and-charcoal patina only happens with real age and real bronze. This is well over a century old! WHAAAT?!😳

Pieces like this are why I love what I do — the ones that look like nothing until you really look. It would be extraordinary as a sculptural moment on a console table or bookshelf, somewhere it can catch the light and be properly admired.

It is SO SATISFYING to see a crusty dried up piece of wood brought back to life 😍 NEVER pass up on wood items just because they look like they’ve come straight from the Sahara desert - it’s easier thank you think to revive them! 🤩

What do you use to on your wood pieces? I’ve also used Howard’s Feed n Wax and Furniture Care Wood Wax and Polish with the same success (those are both orange scented too!) 🍊

Just remember to use food safe products if you plan on using it to serve or display food 👍
