Come with us to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal Part 1 🎣

A few hours exploring one of our local stretches, enjoying the surroundings and keeping an eye out for whatever might show itself.

We managed to capture some beautiful Rudd on film along the way too 👀🐟 — a proper reminder that you never quite know what you’re going to see when you’re out on the canal.

New to carp fishing? 🎣

Here’s something you need to know.

A crash mat is essential carp fishing equipment. It takes less than 30 seconds to set up, but that 30 seconds could make all the difference.

A carp’s safety should always come before a photo, a PB or getting your rig back in the water.

A properly set-up, suitably padded unhooking mat helps protect the fish while it’s out of the water and being handled. Never stand. Always kneel.Keep the fish low over the mat, keep it wet, handle it carefully and return it as quickly and safely as possible.

If you don’t have the correct fish-care equipment with you, you shouldn’t be fishing for carp until you do.

Looking after the fish we catch isn’t just good practice — it’s how we make sure others can enjoy this sport for generations to come. 🐟
