The blue tit is one of our most recognisable garden visitors and loves feeders and tables stocked up with food. They are the most common species of tit in the UK.
Providing suet, peanuts and black sunflower seeds will give these delightful birds a valuable source of nutrients and energy.

We love to see Yellowhammers sitting at the top of our hedgerows at Giddy Gate Farm.
Unmistakable little birds with yellow heads and brown backs, they eat seeds and insects.
Unfortunately they are a 'red list species' due to their rapid decline over the last 50 years.
Our hedgerows and dedicated bird feeding areas will help these birds to breed and survive the winter.

Garden birds make their body heat by shivering and the energy used to shiver comes from food. This little robin has also fluffed out its feathers to help it stay warm.
Offering the best winter bird foods helps little birds stay warm and this means selecting quality seeds, suet, nuts, peanut butter, scraps, and other items high in fat and calories to give birds plenty of energy to generate more body heat.

Just beautiful!πŸ„πŸ§šβ€πŸ„πŸπŸ‚
This Fly agaric was in our lawn at Giddy Gate Farm.

Did you know?.....it was common on Christmas cards in Victorian and Edwardian times as a symbol of good luck and its colours are thought to have been the inspiration for Santa Claus's red and white suit.

Fly agaric is poisonous and infamous for its psychoactive and hallucinogenic properties.

Bullfinches are specialist seed and bud eaters, and only eat insects briefly during summer whilst feeding their young.
They were once considered a serious pest in orchards, so much so that in the 16th Century, Henry VIII πŸ‘‘ condemned their 'criminal attacks' on fruit trees and an Act of Parliament declared that one penny would be paid for every bird killed!

Bullfinches form their mating pairs for many years and, most times, for life. πŸ₯πŸ₯
