Moving on to 2026

As most of you will know myself and Marcus are keen members of Burry Port & District Sea Anglers
Please have a read of the below and come down and join us as and when you can. It would be fantastic to meet some new people and make new and hopefully life long friends as we both have already.

From BP&DSA page.

We have listened to our members throughout the year and are looking at a slightly different structure next year.
With the amount of competitions out there and many people intimidated by them we are implementing a quieter timetable in the coming year.

Our plan is to do less competitions and more social events where anyone can join us at no cost.

Want to meet new people ?
Learn a new skill?
Improve your bait presentation or casting ability ?
Or even just need some fresh air and a chat?

Come down and meet the group, we're all in this together and would love to meet you.

We have a wealth of knowledge in our club with anglers of all ages and skill levels.

•We are running the League again in 2026 which should see similar prizes to this year and many more trophies to add at the end of the year for our anglers to win, if you enter the league, every competition we hold will see you earn points on where you place on the day. The league table will be posted after every comp on social media, so you can keep track of your points.

Had a spare hour after work last week so dusted off the lures and shot down to a local beach.

Slapped on a Drift Fishing drx sandeel and headed out for a few throws.

While initially I was after some bass for the table I was pleasantly surprised with another strong fighting little fish.

A first for me was a ballan wrasse.
A strong fighting little fish in and out of the water.

Little sesh at Knab
Myself, Marcus and Gary went on a last minute session down at Knab on Wednesday night following a last minute boat trip cancellation.

The itch was still very much there after our cancellation so getting out was a must.

We arrived at Knab at around 11:45 to get ready for high water at 02:19 an unbelievably small tide with the water barely touching the slip wall at high.
Getting out of the car there was a pleasant warm breeze with air temp at around 14 degrees.

With a large variety of rigs and bait we had an attitude of let's just get a bite.

It was quiet for the first hour with myself getting the first missed bite of the night.
I think my hooks were no longer sitting proud of the fairly hefty bait I'd thrown out. A cocktail of mackerel, lug and squid.

I then managed to pull two dogs out over the course of the next few hours.

Gary true to form setup his three rods so started fishing at about 1:30.
Three casts in on the one rod and again in true Gary style we hear a gunshot of a crack with a rig and weight plopping into the water for someone to find at low.

He did manage to pull in a dog of his own on a similar bait of a huge fish cocktail.

Unfortunately Marcus did blank but made up for this with keeping the laughs rolling through the night

The night was spent mainly rolling around laughing, the fish were just a little bonus.
A great night out with some great guys.

Team SharpShock at it again.
A late update from a few sessions.

Last week we took part in the Knockeye Cup at Knab rock.
A cracking comp put on by Burry Port & District Sea Anglers in memory of Knockeye Williams.

It has to be said.
Marcus stole the show.
He started early pulling in a smooth hound weighing in at 7lb 7 .
Not long after his rod was bouncing again with another hound coming in at 6lb 8.
All went quiet for a while. Another two hounds were pulled in by other competitors with respectable weights of their own.
Marcus with his outstanding casts sent one to the moon.
It wasn't in for ten minutes when the rod doubles over.
He pulls in a comp winning 11lb 8 hound which was an effort to pull in both on the rod and on the drop net.
Couldn't have asked for a better day especially as the last one brought in a big crowd of onlookers from America who were impressed with the "Shark"
A great team effort by us both with one manning the rod and one on the net.

Then comes another session last night at a local spot.
A late night session to get myself my first hound and Marcus was on a Tope hunt.

Unfortunately for Marcus we had no tope but I had a great session on the hounds.

First cast first fish... the ever present dogfish who quickly went back.

Next cast came in my first ever hound weighing in at 6lb 2.
What a start.

The wind picked up and nothing for what seemed like hours.
We sat eagerly waiting for either rod to start bouncing.

All of a sudden I see a little flick of the rod tip.
Having had an hour's sleep I thought I was seeing things until it went again with some welly.

I started pulling on telling Marcus that it felt small.
How wrong I was.

I pulled in a second pb coming in at 9lb.
A short fish but what a belly.

I pulled in a two more which we didn't weigh
One of which I thought was massive but I'd double hooked a dog and a hound on a pennel.

Overall a fantastic session.

Happy Friday everyone.

New deliveries have been made this week down at Anglers Corner and Bennett’s Bait and Tackle

We've been working tirelessly to get these orders out.

We've also amended our colour formulas this week and the attractors are brighter than ever.

Pop down to one of the shops and get your fish on.

Have a great weekend and get those lines in the water.

NEW PRODUCT ALERT !!!!

We at SharpShock Attractors are trying our utmost to stay ahead of the curve and keep new ideas coming.

We've added a new bead design shape, keeping in a shape that moves erratically in the water,
where we've changed is these are floating and glowing.

After a short exposure to natural light these glow like mad but for quick and best results a quick charge with a UV blacklight and they could just about be used as a torch !

These will be in the shops soon.

Keep an eye out for SharpShock Attractors when you visit Anglers Corner and Bennett’s Bait and Tackle

Team SharpShock at it again.

Today we visited a local mark that we've been eager to try.
Myself, Marcus and Gary from Burry Port & District Sea Anglers joined us to try our luck.

Fished low tide 2 hours each side, Wind was non existent. Sea was flat calm, almost eerily so.
Some w**d lingering about which we knew would be a pain, little did I know it would haunt me later on.

The day started off slow with not even a sniff.
Then out of nowhere Marcus pulls out a schoolie bass. First cast, first fish. Game on!

Second cast nothing...

Third cast.... Bang. Another bass for Marcus weighing in at 3lb.

An hour went by with nothing at all between the three of us other than the usual banter.

As Marcus was making his way over to have a nose at my bait my rod started going.

Fish on....

After a short fight I pulled in a silver slab weighing 5lb 1oz with a length of 57cm an absolute beauty.

Another hour goes by and all is quiet again.
The wind had picked up and a slight chop was starting.
Then as suddenly as it started it all died down again. No wind, flat calm.

Last cast.
Gary has resigned himself to the blank. Only to see his rod start bouncing away, then Marcus's rod starts too, and then mine starts !

A triple to finish, could it be ??

Unfortunately for me I had a big clump of w**d which was my "bite"

Let's get some hopes up for the other lads then.

Marcus starts reeling in like a madman.

We wait in anticipation.

Gary starts reeling in like a madman.

The suspense and excitement are through the roof.

We see a flash of silver.

Marcus pulls out another slab weighing 5lb and measuring 57cm.

Unfortunately for Gary his line was wrapped around Marcus as the fish had gone on a proper run.

A great day with some great company.

We all had a great laugh, even Gary was in high spirits despite his blank.

We take a long slog through the mud to get back to the cars stopping to clean off as best we can at some rock pools.

A final bit of banter and a few laughs over our pics and vids and off we go.

What a day.

Until the next one

Hi All.

A bit of a backstory as to how SharpShock got started.

I, Steve and my colleague Marcus met while taking place in a fishing competition at the end of 2024 and immediately hit it off due to our shared love for fishing.

We spent many nights pitching ideas back and forth as to how we could create a new product with the fabled "deadly" status.

After much testing of different materials, colours and shapes we settled on what we have today.

A semi circular bead that is made from a specialised UV material.
Fish see different wavelengths of light compared to us and often use UV emitters and receptors on their body for various reasons.
This is the reason we have started on this particular composition.
As to their unique shape the flat edge causes a small current behind the attractor which makes it shift and move in the water.
This helps immensely with predatory fish such as Bass and flatfish.

Stay tuned for further development into the SharpShock System.

Check us out and get those fish biting.

All the best from the SharpShock team
