Crafted in 18K gold with twelve hexagonal panels of agate, bloodstone, carnelian, lapis lazuli, jasper and chalcedony.

Together they form a miniature geological collection, reflecting the Georgian-era fascination with decorative stones and mineral specimens.

An early 18th-century Spanish diamond cluster ring.

Set in 18K gold with rose- and table-cut diamonds in closed, foil-backed settings.

A comparable diamond ring is held by The Met as part of a group of nine ‘nun’s rings’ from a Spanish convent, dating to the late 17th to early 18th century.
Rare survivals, these rings were associated with wealthy nuns in Spain and Mexico.

An early 20th century German rose-cut diamond cluster ring.

Set with 18 rose-cut diamonds across a gently domed silver head, on a gold band. The irregular hand-cut facets give the surface a particularly lively appearance.

An Ancient Roman jasper intaglio of Triton, dating to the 2nd–3rd century AD.

Later mounted in 18K gold, in France during the late 19th century.

Tritons formed part of the retinue of Neptune, the Roman god of the sea. On Roman gems, these hybrid sea creatures can be shown carrying tridents and sounding conch shells, imagery evoking the power and movement of the sea.

This ring joins several other pieces of Ancient Roman jewellery currently available in our collection.

A highly unusual gold ring set with an ancient dark blue glass fragment.

The substantial box-shaped setting is engraved with characters apparently derived from Arabic script, with parallels to medieval Islamic and Seljuk rings. Its precise date and origin remain uncertain.

Made in a lightweight hollow repoussé form, with fine engine-turned decoration across the rectangular face and raised scrollwork to the shoulders.
