New partnership!!! 🍷🍷

So glad to welcome a new winery to The Portuguese Cellar portfolio - Herdade de Vale Barqueiros from the beautiful Alentejo Region 🇵🇹. And very happy to continue working with Miguel who is also the Producer of the Encosta do Xisto wines from the Vinho Verde region, which I proudly represent in the UK.

From next week we will have these 3 new wines available: Monte de Seda Red, Vale Barqueiros Red - Selected Harvest and Vale Barqueiros White - Selected Harvest.

If you are a member of the Cellar Club (wine membership) you will be trying them in the end of this month.

Last Saturday we celebrated Kentish wine 🥂
The Wine Garden of England collaborated with 8 Kent wine producers to encourage tourism to the country. Together they are responsible for 80% of Kent’s wine production.

We had a brilliant day in the sunshine ☀️sampling delicious wines from these vineyards:

🍾Biddenden
🍾Chapel Down
🍾Gusbourne
🍾Simpsons
🍾Squerryes
🍾Westwell

Loved trying the wine from served at the King Coronation 🇬🇧🤴

While in Jerez, it was a MUST to visit Bodegas Tip Pepe for a tour and wine tasting 🍷. A beautiful winery with Andalusian courtyards, trellis-lined streets and incredible wine cellars, over a hundred years old.

The production of Sherry involves specific grape varieties 🍇including Palomino, Pedro Ximénez, and Moscatel, as well as the unique aging and blending processes called Solera system.
There are several styles of Sherry, ranging from dry to sweet, including Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, and Pedro Ximénez.

Despite changes in consumer preferences and increased competition in the wine market, Jerez Sherry continues to be appreciated and enjoyed worldwide 🌏

Flamenco is a passionate art that combines music, dance, and singing. It emerged in the 18th century and reflects the cultural heritage of Andalusia. Flamenco is known for its intense emotions, improvisation, and storytelling. It features distinctive guitar playing, rhythmic hand clapping, percussive footwork, and soulful singing.

The UK wine industry has experienced significant growth, both in terms of vineyard area and wine production. England's cool climate contributes to the production of sparkling wines 🍾
The most prominent grape varieties grown are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Additionally, English winemakers have also experimented with other grape varieties, such as Bacchus and Riesling, to create a diverse range of still wines.

Yesterday we had a tasting tour 🍷
Lovely property, among rolling hills where you can see the historic Bluebell steam train, a winding river, fishing lakes and woodland.

We tasted a sparkling Rose, a sparkling White Brut, a single blend Bacchus and a single blend Chardonnay.

So, whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply an admirer of beautiful landscapes, I highly recommend exploring the vineyards of England.

Quinta do Quetzal is set in the heart of the Alentejo region on the rich slopes of Vidigueira.
The region’s micro climate and its hills make it the perfect location for a unique terroir. The grapes grow on soil rich in Schist, the local mineral stone. While the area around Quinta do Quetzal is generally sunny and warm, its positioning on the foothills of the Serra do Mendro allows cooler air in from the Atlantic ocean.
These conditions lead to big variations in temperature, giving the grapes the heat to ripen and the cooling breezes to recover. Quinta do Quetzal focuses on limited production of concentrated and top quality grapes in order to create a wine that expresses the character of its surroundings.
