Don't Look Back in Anger

The house was full last night for the UK premiere of Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, and by all accounts, it landed. The Guardian say it “brings the joy and poignancy of a reunion”, while the BBC describe it as capturing “the euphoria of a comeback”.

Kevin Cummins was there before any of this was inevitable. His photographs of Liam and Noel at Maine Road in 1994, in the ground that mattered to them as much as any stage, feature in the film alongside his live photographs from the same year, shot right in the eye of the storm as Oasis went from Manchester band to national obsession. Thirty-two years on, Cummins’ Oasis archive is still a rich source for those who wish to trace the history of British music.

The documentary is scheduled for public release this Friday, 11 September. Some might say it’s time to book your ticket.

Back to Black at 20!

Proud that our very own Charles Moriarty is one of the photographers featured in Amy Winehouse: Back to Black at 20, a free outdoor exhibition transforming 30 of King’s Cross’ signature art benches into an open-air gallery, marking 20 years since Back to Black changed British music forever (and just ahead of its major reissue this October).

The photographs by Charles featured in the show were taken with Amy between New York and London, before the release of her acclaimed debut album, Frank, whose famous cover bears another classic Moriarty portrait.
The exhibition runs until October 16th, and if you fall in love with any of the Charlies Moriarty images featured, the QR code right next to it will take you straight to its product page on our gallery store, where you can collect your own piece of British music history.

Iconic Images Gallery presents Fame, Fashion, McGee, an exhibition of work by the British photographer Tony McGee. Drawing on the full sweep of McGee's career, the exhibition brings together an exciting curation of some of his best-known photographs alongside rediscoveries from his acclaimed archive.

His extensive work in fashion is represented in the exhibition by images made for some of the leading fashion magazines in England and Europe. A photograph of The Small Faces from 1967, taken when McGee was only 13 years old, begins a thread of music photography which continues through the 1970s and ’80s with images of David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Marianne Faithfull, Tina Turner and Wham!

The show will run from 10 September – 17 October at Iconic Images Gallery Piccadilly, with all fine art on display available for purchase.
