Quick access matters. So does safe escalation.

Pharmacy and primary-care pathways can make it easier to get help for common concerns. But safe care is not just about the first label—it is about listening to the full story, examining properly, recognising red flags, and knowing when to escalate.

Most migraines and ear infections are not stroke or cancer. However, a symptom that is new, sudden, severe, changing, progressive, or simply does not fit the expected picture deserves careful assessment.

Call 999 for sudden stroke symptoms, including:
• Face droop
• Arm weakness or numbness
• Speech difficulty
• Sudden vision change, confusion, or severe headache

For ear symptoms, seek urgent advice if there is swelling or redness behind the ear, the ear is sticking out, or an infection is not improving. Persistent or unexplained one-sided ear pain—especially alongside swallowing difficulties, voice change, a neck lump, or weight loss—needs a broader clinical assessment.

As a Physician Associate working in general practice, I have seen why a detailed history and examination matter. A patient initially presenting with what appeared to be an ear infection had features that did not fit. Urgent escalation led to a cancer diagnosis.
This is not to alarm you. It is a reminder that access needs assessment, and every pathway needs clear safety-netting.

Educational information only — not a diagnosis or substitute for individual medical advice.

SESSION 1 COMPLETE — AND WHAT AN AFTERNOON!

Thank you to every woman who joined us yesterday for our first free Women’s Health Chat: Menopause & Perimenopause Unmuted.

We talked. We learned. We asked questions. We shared experiences — and most importantly, women had a space where their health concerns could be heard and discussed openly.

A very special thank you to Dr Cynthia Odigie, NHS General Practitioner (GP), for giving her time and sharing such a detailed and practical talk on menopause, perimenopause, treatment options and HRT. đź’ś

And thank you to every woman who contributed to the discussion and Q&A. Your questions and experiences are exactly why these conversations matter.
One session down. 11 more to go. 🌸
Our Women's Health Chats are part of a 12-month free community programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

Menopause & Perimenopause: Unmuted đź’ś
We kicked off our Women's Health Chats programme with Session 1 — Menopause and Perimenopause Unmuted — right here in Gillingham.

Real talk. Real women. No taboo, no TMI.

We laughed, we shared, we unlearned some myths, and we left with tools we can actually use.
This is just the start — 12 sessions running through to July 2027, funded by TNL Awards for All, all about giving women and girls in Medway a safe space to talk, learn, and support each other.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out. See you at the next one. 🌸

Our first funded Women’s Health Chat is complete, and I’m so grateful.

Today, 30 August 2026, Felly Health & Wellness CIC brought women together in Medway for an open and supportive conversation around perimenopause and menopause.

We talked. We listened. We shared experiences. We asked questions. And most importantly, women had a space where they could speak openly about their health without judgement or embarrassment.
For me, success isn’t about filling every chair. It’s about the women who walked through the door, felt comfortable enough to share, learnt something useful and hopefully left feeling a little more informed and supported.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and National Lottery players for funding our Women’s Health Chats: Community Support for Women in Medway programme and helping us make these conversations possible.

Thank you also to every woman who gave up part of her Sunday afternoon to join us, to those who supported behind the scenes, and to everyone helping us spread the word.

This is only the beginning.
Over the coming months, we’ll continue creating spaces to talk about PCOS/PMOS, menopause, fertility, endometriosis, women’s wellbeing, skin health and other issues that affect women but are too often discussed quietly.

Women’s health deserves conversation.
Women deserve to be heard.
And women deserve access to trusted health information and support.
