The Life of Stephen Lawrence by Verna Allette Wilkins
Stephen Lawrence was murdered on 22nd April 1993.
After feeling the impact on my local community and baring witness to the battle Doreen &Neville Lawrence endured as they struggled to get justice.
I was inspired by Doreen and Neville's strength, tenacity and dignity in the most difficult of circumstances.
Which inspired me to arrange a dinner at The Royal Commonwealth Club for Doreen Lawrence with publishers, educationalists ,authors and poets.
To name a few Verna Allette Wilkins publishers (Tamarind), Malorie Blackman, John Agard and Grace Nichols
To encourage Doreen to write her story, she insisted her priority was to have Stephens story told.
As a result Doreen agreed to the development of this book” The Life of Stephen Lawrence “.
I am very proud of this book and Royal Greenwich Borough who made sure every school in Greenwich had copies of this book in classrooms.
Humanity, equality, justice and a end to systemic racism is worth fighting for.
It’s about our collective responsibility and humanity.
RIP Stephen remembered and not forgotten.
