With the last Bank Holiday weekend of the summer underway, we’re reflecting on what a glorious summer 2026 has been. ☀️

Long, light-filled days and seemingly endless sunshine have lifted spirits, brought people together and given us plenty of moments to savour.

This stunning seascape painting inspired by Summer is by award-winning artist Jo Holdsworth we sourced for a client in Surrey. The painting featured in Jo's successful solo show 'City and Coast' held Neptune Wimbledon, the renowned interiors and lifestyle showroom in South West London.

Artfully Sorted was delighted to work with this client to find art for their living room. This painting was a perfect choice - full of elegance and serenity with uplifting coastal vibes. Summer may not be here for much longer, but through art one can be transported to sunnier shores all year round.

Summertime offers a wonderful opportunity to experience sculpture in the open, offering a different perspective on works beyond a gallery or art fair setting.

Featured here is Caroline Russell with her work "Abstract Thinker II" at the sculpture exhibition at Doddington Hall, Leicestershire. Caroline is a Member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and has been a professional sculptor since 1993.

What a setting and exhibition to have her outstanding work part of at the historic Doddington Hall. Over 60 sculptural artists are taking part from the UK and abroad curated by David Waghorne and Kate McGovern.

Doddington Hall is one of England’s finest Elizabethan houses, completed in 1600 with its gardens retaining their original Elizabethan layout, including the historic brick walls dividing the formal and kitchen garden.

A special place to visit any time of year, but with now with the extra bonus of seeing sculptures in its grounds, as well works in an indoor gallery.

The exhibition is open until 6th September.

One of the most rewarding aspects of running Artfully Sorted is hearing from our clients after an art sourcing project has finished that they rate our art advisory service.

Receiving feedback such as this one, which landed in our inbox this week, is a wonderful reminder that the work we do is of value as we offer genuine expertise - finding the right artwork is about so much more than filling a blank wall.

Many of our clients come to us feeling overwhelmed by the volume of choice available when considering art for their space. They’ve spent months, sometimes even years, searching for the right piece but just haven’t been able to land on “the one” — or, in this case, the right two.

We listen, and take the time to understand our clients and the vibe they want to create in their space before proposing artworks. It's a privilege to be trusted with something so personal, and simply marvellous when we get it right 🎯 as know how their space will feel complete with the art.

The Young Artists' Summer Show, which runs alongside the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, gets 5 stars from me.

Now in its eighth year, this inspiring exhibition celebrates the creativity of young people aged 4–18 from across the UK. This year, an incredible 25,660 artworks were submitted by students from more than 4,500 schools, art clubs and home educators, with 195 artworks selected.

The standard of work is superb, but what really moved me was the insights these artists offered of the world around us. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and mixed media, they explore subjects including identity, mental health, climate change, family, belonging, and politics. It's a welcome reminder of how creativity gives young people a voice.

I was especially drawn to Political 'Sauces' Sources by Inaya Age 16 (image 4). At first glance, the work appears playful, with familiar condiment bottles and clever slogans. But on closer inspection, each bottle is filled with censored newspaper articles linked to nine world leaders, with the date on each label corresponding to that leader's birth year. It's such a thought provoking work - one which you reflect on for days after.

Talent should never be underestimated because of age. This exhibition proves that creativity, originality and powerful storytelling have no age limit.

Seven years ago, Artfully Sorted completed its first art sourcing project.

These clients had been searching for over two years for the perfect piece for their entrance hall. They'd visited - number of galleries and art fairs but hadn't found anything that both suited the space and created the emotional connection they were hoping for.

We suggested this beautiful seascape by British contemporary artist David Atkins, sourced through Quantum Contemporary Art. We will always remember their joy when we took the painting out of its wrapping and they remarked : "That's the one!". Not only did the work sit well in its intended space, but it also brought back treasured memories of family summers spent at Old Harry Rocks in Dorset, which had inspired this piece.

Looking back now, this project clearly shaped so much of what Artfully Sorted stands for as an art consultancy, namely that sourcing art isn't simply about filling a space; it's about finding work that resonates, sparks memories and brings joy to the people who live or work with it every day.

Wimbledon is famous for tennis 🎾… but its history goes far beyond Centre Court.

One of the highlights of our week was visiting Her Court: The Role Wimbledon Played in the Suffragette Movement, a Young Masters project in collaboration with the Wimbledon Museum, presented in the Norman Plastow Gallery.

Drawing on the museum’s local history collections and archives, the exhibition explores the little-known but significant role Wimbledon played in the women’s suffragette movement. Historians regard Wimbledon as one of the movement’s key centres in London. Between 1908 and 1914, the area hosted public meetings, marches, fundraising events and acts of civil disobedience. One of the most remarkable moments saw around 20,000 people gather on Wimbledon Common to support the campaign for women to gain the parliamentary vote.

That campaign reached a major milestone in 1918, when some women were granted the right to vote. Full voting equality with men followed in 1928.

The exhibition brings together contemporary artists working across painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, performance, film and digital practice. Their work offers thought-provoking responses to this important chapter in Wimbledon’s history and honours the courage and determination of the suffragettes whose actions helped shape a more equal society.

Featured here with Jo Holdsworth, one of the artists selected to be in the exhibition. Her painting of Wimbledon Theatre is inspired by their struggles yet profound sense of togetherness capturing their unwavering spirit to bring about change.

Huge congratulations to Cynthia Corbett and Young Masters for a wonderful and profound show, with speaking events which ran alongside including a discussion with Helen Pankhurst, the great-granddaughter of suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst, panelled by Lucy Kane of .
