Essential Trading

We have some Camomile and Hibiscus teas in the Fair Trade Centre, from Essential Trading on sale.

The company: Essential Trading Co-operative is a Bristol-based workers' co-op, one of the largest in the UK. Its roots trace to 1971, when the first Harvest store opened in Bath, inspired by a catering venture at that year's Glastonbury Fayre. In 1991, Bristol-based Nova Wholefoods and Bath Wholefood Co. merged to form Essential Trading. It's entirely owned and run by its worker-members on democratic, one-member-one-vote lines, following the 7 Co-operative Principles.

The teas:
The Organic Hibiscus Herbal Infusion is made purely from air-dried hibiscus flowers, giving a ruby colour and tart, cranberry-like flavour, and is a good source of Vitamin C. The teas are 100% plastic-free — FSC-certified boxes, organic-thread string, home-compostable bags.

The camomile tea is produced through organic and biodynamic (Demeter) farming, free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.

Both are sourced as a product of Egypt, certified organic under EG-BIO-149 and GB-ORG-06, grown through biodynamic methods. Essential works with organic herb specialists to source the herbs, some of which are Fair Wild certified, and packs them in the UK.

We stock a variety of fair trade herbal teas, honey and Eco envelopes with writing paper. An ideal mixture to relax with a herbal tea with some honey mixed in, while writing to family or friends.

From Tropical Wholefoods.

We sell Tropical Wholefoods Chewy Banana Chips in the Fair Trade Centre. I love this product, one of my favourites and is one of your five day fruits and vegetables. A picnic essential, a snack or have some for your breakfast with cereal.

Are all banana chips created equal? Crunchy banana chips are a familiar sight in the UK, including health food shops, but they are usually under-ripe green bananas coated in heavy sugar syrups or honey for sweetening and deep fried adding a large amount of fat and calories. Imagine adding sweetness to a banana!

Tropical Wholefoods chewy banana chips are slowly dehydrated, preserving the fruit naturally without the need for heavy syrups or frying. And, even better, they taste like sweet, golden banana!

Summer activities for kids over the Summer holidays.
Wagging Puppy 🐕, Buzzy Bumble Bee 🐝 or a Lovely Ladybird 🐞 to make up, and there are other activities inside the packets to do, at £4.00 each.

We are Open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm and Saturdays 10am to 1pm.

John and I saw the almost total eclipse tonight from Dawson Heights. It was awesome. Once in a live time event. We hope our Fair Trade family saw it too.

The Fair Trade Centre will be closed on Saturday 22nd August due to stock take. The Cafe and Fair Trade Centre will be closed due to water works on the 27th and 28th August. On the Bank Holiday Monday 31st August both will be closed. Then the Fair Trade Centre will be open from Tuesday 1st September. The Cafe will be closed that first week of September. Apart from Saturday 22nd August the Fair Trade Centre will be open on Saturdays.
