Keep up to date with 'Speedquizzing' events being hosted by DJ Angus 'El Flaco' in and around London. What is SpeedQuizzing?

SpeedQuizzing is a software designed for Quiz nights to eliminate the need for pen and paper; and practically eliminates cheating. All teams need is one Smartphone or Tablet per team, download the free SpeedQuizzing app from their app store, then connect to the hosts local WIFI to play. Every Monday at 8pm at The Famous Cock-tail Bar, Islington. Every Thursday at 8pm at The Green, Shepherd’s Bush. Online quizzes take place at least once a month.

Our Summer Quiz event dates are confirmed!

While I tried to get an ice cream machine, it turns out that the machines are too heavy to carry downstairs so I am bringing back the popcorn and candy floss!
There’ll be additional prizes too!
The events are slightly later this year and the first will take place on Monday 10th August downstairs at THE FAMOUS C**K TAVERN/C**KTAIL BAR🐓🍸. The second event will take place on Thursday 13th August downstairs at The .
These are branded as ‘Big Quiz Events’ so entry is £4.50 and free entry cannot be redeemed although you can still accrue loyalty!
Hopefully the events taking place in August this year will mean that those who were unable to make it to our previous years in June/July can make it this year!

Last week I was back in Scotland catching up with some of our online players from lockdown.
Since 2021, I’ve made twice annual trips up to Glasgow with a couple of day trips over to Edinburgh to see a couple of our other players who moved up from London last year.
It started early in the week though as two of the players came down to London for Wimbledon but popped into my quiz in Islington on
Monday.
On Wednesday I spent the first night over in Kilmarnock playing Daniel’s quiz. His wife Sheree was my team mate and although we never won the quiz, we did win a tub of popcorn which came in handy for Saturday night.
On Thursday I was back in Glasgow and headed over to the east side of the city to play Stuart’s quiz at The Woodend which is a staple on every visit. I joined team ‘Humes’ for the event and while we didn’t win, they did get 4 chances to win £500 on Play Your Cards Right!
Sadly, nobody won so the jackpot was rolled over.
Friday was a lazy day with an evening meal with Sheree and Daniel as well as Daniel’s mum and dad who I’d first met last year at Sheree and Daniel’s wedding!
On Saturday I was back in the east end of Glasgow for a SpeedQuizzing music bingo night that Stuart was hosting and where the popcorn was devoured by all on our table.
On Sunday I headed to Edinburgh and met with Karin and Matt (who plays as ‘MmmKay’ in our online quizzes) and spent the afternoon in North Berwick!
It’s always a great time in Scotland and I’ll likely be back up there in November.

This was originally meant to be posted last week but Instagram and Facebook both went down so it never went through the system.:
Last Wednesday 10th June 2026 marked the 10 year anniversary since I hosted my first ever public SpeedQuizzing event.
Coincidentally, that was at a pub in Angel, Islington, just yards from our current Sunday venue.
But the best advertising they could do was stick a poster on a pillar that was facing the back wall 😕.
The first event, held in their function room at the back of the venue, saw a couple of friends pop by for support and another team who went onto hire me over the next 3 years for annual quiz events for their publishing company. So that paid off!
The following month nobody turned up because of the lack of advertising (what a surprise). So that was that!
After canvassing a few venues, it was Daniel, the then manager of .famouscock who saw the potential and the first event was booked in for the 7th November (10th anniversary this coming November)!
Some of our quizzers who first joined us in 2017 and 2018 are still coming every Monday!!!
Since then we’ve had successful nights in Shepherd’s Bush, though sadly I had to pull the plug on that one; and now another night in Victoria at The which has proven to be very popular!
I’ve also hired chocolate fountains, popcorn and candy floss, pick and mix sweet carts for our bigger events, as well as the odd freebie giveaway through the year.
During lockdown, we went online thanks to the geniuses at SpeedQuizzing who worked quickly to ensure people could still quiz.
As a result of lockdown, we have met some fantastic people, especially in Glasgow and Edinburgh and I’ve made twice annual trips since 2021 to go up and see them - even being invited to special birthdays and weddings!
As we head into the next decade, I want to thank all players, cover hosts, venue staff and management, past and present, for all your support over the years at every venue, as well for all the private events and corporate bookings!
Here’s to the next 10 years! 🍻🥂

In preparation for our first ever SpeedQuizzing Music Bingo event next week, this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning at 1am, I’m hosting an online version of the game to get some practice in!
It’s free to play and there are no prizes. There’ll be two games (the first will be 80’s and 90’s songs, the second will be all decades).
It is probably best to play in teams of no more than 2 (you can have more than one device logged in if there are more players in your household).
So get your drinks at the ready (maybe keep your singing voices down so as not to wake the neighbours 😂).
Zoom opens at 12:45am on Sunday morning.

There was no online quiz in April due to a change of plans but, I’ll hopefully be back with an online quiz on Friday 8th May at 9pm with all your usual rounds and all the bonus rounds that are available.
🚨 I say hopefully; due to things happening outside of quizzing, my schedule may change last minute but I’ll know for certain by Thursday! 🚨
As always, my online quizzes are free to play (tips are appreciated to cover the costs of zoom and the software activation).
The zoom meeting will open at 8:45pm and the quiz pin will be revealed in the chat.
Looking forward to seeing who logs on!

🚨Time for changes 🚨
From Sunday 10th May several things are happening in the world of FlacoSpeedQuizzing!
• We launch our brand new Sunday night quiz at The .islington from 7:30pm.
Details on how to book will be posted soon!
• Entry fees will increase to £3.50 per player but the loyalty cards will be usable at all 3 venues! It will still be every 5th quiz free (with me), and loyalty can still be accrued with any host!
• All bar tabs/gift cards for our quiz winners will increase from £50 to £60 at all venues!
• We will also be introducing a prize for 2nd place at all venues which will be a round of shots.
• ‘Big Quiz Event’ nights will increase from £4 to £4.50. These will be our Easter, Summer and Halloween quiz nights!
Don’t forget you can download the Mixr app to earn points and money off at our Monday, and new Sunday night, venues, and the Greene King app for rewards at our Thursday night venue!
There are some other ideas in the pipeline including our upcoming SpeedQuizzing Music Bingo event in June alongside our monthly Friday themed quizzes.
We’ll also be celebrating our 2nd Anniversary in Victoria on the 7th May!

Our easter quizzes proved to be very popular over the extended bank holiday weekend!
79 players participated in our Thursday quiz downstairs at The in .tform22 with many new faces picking the right night to play their first quiz.
The chocolate fountain was a huge success and despite the number of players, there was still enough at the end of the night for even the security guards at the venue to come and make use of.
Sadly, on Monday, due to circumstances beyond our control, the fountain had to be cancellled as the agent was unable to source and attendant at such short notice and had been trying up until 3pm on the day. By that point, I was in Costco purchasing chocolate muffins and coffee and walnut muffins, alone with boxes of creme eggs as a backup for our players in Islington at .famouscock in the downstairs bar.
These went down well as an alternative with the 41 players who turned up.
Thanks to everyone who came down!
A big thanks also to for the fountain on Thursday.
Our next ‘Big Quiz Events’ at both venues will be our summer quiz and that will take place in either June or July.
But there are other things happening before then including the launch of a new Sunday night venue in May which will be revealed this Sunday, as well as our 2nd anniversary at The Shakespeare.

Two weeks ago I covered Shaun on behalf of at The Chieftain in Welwyn Garden City at their biweekly quiz.
It had been nearly 5 years since I was last there.
33 players across 11 teams participated plus the bar staff dipped in and out during the night.
Players were victim of some of my curveballs although there was one question which everybody waited for the full question to be read out which was impressive!
It was a great night and worth the journey by train (since my car was playing up)!
Our winners were team of five ‘Fleetwood Maccas’ although one of their members had to leave early. They went home with the winners’ certificate and £50 bar tab.
2nd place went to duo ‘The Quizletts’ who went home with a bottle of wine.
3rd place won themselves 50 point voucher to start their next quiz with.
In the middle of the scoreboard were team ‘Windy Millers’ who won a bag of sweets. Unfortunately I didn’t have one, thinking there was one at the pub, so Shaun will be back tonight with their prize.
Last place win themselves a 20 point voucher and so that went to team duo ‘Better Call Saul’.
