🧼 this is what a mistake looks like. And this is why I love mistakes. This 100% olive oil soap has reacted with the air somehow (it’s all chemistry and I don’t know anything about it) and has created a layer of white soda ash all over the soap and even inside it. Usually a very unwelcome guest in soap making, though completely harmless, but for me it’s perfect as it makes my soaps look more like marble, with all its perfect imperfections. Also, an edge cracked off when taking it out of the mould - again, it just adds to the marble look. The details here are insane. And it’s all because something went “wrong”.

🧼 Went to Lebanon and made some soaps with Michel Mansour, a 86 year old soap maker. We used his own home made olive oil and laurel oil from the nearby town. The recipe we used is 3000 years old, and together we worked out how to update the design and reuse all the scraps beautifully. We made 130 soaps together - that’s what my baggage allowance allowed me. That’s it. Not sure there will ever be any more.

This weekend I am selling the soaps at the Christmas market in Raadvad 11-16. If you’re in Copenhagen you should come! There are so many incredible crafts being sold!

We designed and made the new boutique window on 44 Old Bond Street. Silk, the most precious good traded on the Silk Road, is also at the centre of this unique concept: the installation plays with the tension of silk cords to hold the jewellery showcases in thin air. A tribute to the history
tied to the Silk Road trade. The white and purple cords intertwine with the richly lacquered furniture of Lebanese designer , yet again showcasing the remarkable beauty that can arise from artistic and cultural exchange.

🧼 As some might’ve noticed I spent a month in Lebanon making soap with Michel, an 85 year old soap maker this summer (last pic). This one here is made using soap scraps from production of his handmade olive and laurel oil soaps for the softest hands imaginable (seriously. Baby skin soft). Considering making a small batch production - interested?
