SUNNAMUSK Escape is a fresh fruity citrus thing that smells a lot like it could belong in a LV bottle. It’s clean and vibrant and manages to dodge that cheap nasty slightly grotty smell of “fresh stuff to cover teenage lack of showering” that some would-be LV styled fragrances do. It’s not winning any prizes for originality but it’s extremely pleasant and surprisingly durable.

If Sunnamusk are moving beyond mall-dupes (which let’s be honest they’ve done a lot of) then this is a good step in the right direction.

2,800 iterations to land here. Fork knows what the first one smelled like. actually, don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.

The best thing about this perfume is the bottle. Which is very pretty. The perfume itself is the pinnacle of generic fruity designer. Sorry. I know this is a PR bottle that comes with certain expectations of positive reviews but I’ve got nothing I’m afraid. Nada.

Ugh. So. Creed is one of the brands I’ve sunk the most money into. Mostly older formulations and discontinued stuff. Not because I’m a batch wa**er (…maybe I am?), but because the older stuff is just better, generally speaking

So naturally, a new release is cause for excitement. Iris Debonair is that new release. Is the hype justified?

In a word: no. Not really.

It’s nice. Almost really nice. Opens with a vibrant, clean iris that immediately conjures the Dior Homme line — great start. Then it settles into a pretty generic woody-ambery designer base and just… stays there.

It’s perfectly serviceable. Genuinely pleasant, even. But it’s not bringing the glory days back

Reservation Parfums Riviera Californiene is an odd perfume. It’s odd because to me it smells unmistakably like a straight forward excellently executed to***co perfume whilst not having to***co or anything close to it listed. In fact the notes listing seems like it’s for a different perfume altogether. Perhaps a little of the amber coffee but nothing aquatic or saline. Nothing curried to suggest immortelle.

Either way. It’s fantastic. Smells grand. But it DOES SMELL OF TO***CO.

But something between boredom and depression following another mediocre showing by Manchester United prompted me to make this…

Can you spot anything you like? Or indeed dislike? I’ve had a bit of a thing about Noir De Noir recently. I’m not sure why it never really appealed to me earlier but the spicy rose and patchouli is pushing all the right buttons for me of late.

I think 2 of the perfumes on this were gifted. The others were bought by me. Sorry kids. Your inheritance is being frittered away.

Getaria is a salty slightly sweet perfume. It’s a little odd like half and half popcorn. Or like a candy floss fog on the docks at dawn. It’s delicate and delicious and somehow ethereal and spooky. And yet it’s also pretty full bodied and thick around the middle. A mass of oddly contradictory aspects that work as a peculiar whole. It’s really very nice and I have particularly enjoyed wearing it to the gym for some reason. I think it’s the salty verging on skin clean sweat side of it that makes it work.

What’s your favourite Neroli? I guarantee it’s not as good as these.
