With Autumn just around the corner & earthy tones such as espresso, chocolate & amber providing a calming effect to an interior, whilst creating a quiet sense of luxury, which is less harsh than the cool greys & black tones of recent years, you might like some of the items in my new antiques collection that have just been added to the website. When I was studying for my degree in interior design I remember reading that interior designer David Hicks, famously known for his use of red & his carpet design for the film “The shining” often used smaller accents of red within his schemes much like a punctuation mark to add an element of interest. It’s something I remember taking on board when designing our own home & most of the rooms in our house have red somewhere within them. This stunning still life painting would certainly be an arresting edition to any room in the home & the simplistic
Composition, reminiscent of the work of Ben Nicholson, would work equally well within a more traditional or contemporary interior. Scroll 👉🏻 to see some of David Hicks work from his heyday in the 1970’s

My clever friend Michelle Michelle Mason | Art, Vintage, Words is no stranger to writing books, however she’s not written a fiction novel before until now. “Behind the portrait” is her debut novel & I was lucky to be sent a preview copy which I devoured in days. Another day, another painting which is new in stock to the website & what a fantastic mid century abstract painting it is 👌🏻
Oil on canvas in its original frame. The simple line drawing of a jug & glass is offset with a background palette of pastel tones & black.

If you lovely Summer & being by the coast as much as I do, then you may like some of these lovely vintage coastal oil paintings that I have just listed on the website.
All vintage originals, one & two are painted on canvas & the third one is a painting of Portland Beach in Dorset in 1969, painted on the year the historic crane on the painting in Portland Bill was taken down. The original newspaper clipping about the event is on the back of the frame & it obviously struck a cord with the artist who wanted to document it for prosperity.
Fun fact, Portland Stone is also one of Little Greene most popular neutral colours, named after the famous stone that is quarried in Dorset & formed from compressed shell fragments & tiny sand like grains.
