The smells of undergrowth around a giant plant pot ... the fragrance of lavender by a herbal remedy table... 🌿

These are the aromas visitors can experience at Where Magic Grows, an interactive exhibition about plants at Thackray Museum of Medicine!

Aroma Block diffusion tools were used to spread the scents subtly, complimenting the subtle music and dappled lighting.

The scents were selected by five young curators and artist Helen Brook!

The team at Chromium Creative creative are right—sometimes you need to put your samples away and give your nose a break. 👃

When you return to sniffing, you can find that the samples are suddenly bursting with characteristics that you hadn't noticed before!

Something rather interesting arrived today… 👃

We're currently developing a concept project exploring how different senses can be used to create a genuinely immersive experience.

So we asked our friends at AromaPrime Themed Scents to help us explore something we don't get to work with very often — scent.

We gave them a rather unusual brief, and today five bespoke blends arrived for us to test.

They are very different. Some smoky, some earthy, some rather more agricultural… and absolutely none of them smell like Christmas. 😂

We've already got a couple of favourites, but after working our way through all five we've also learned an important lesson in scent design:

nose blindness is very real.

Time to put them away and come back with fresh noses before choosing a direction.

Huge thanks to Aroma Prime for taking our slightly unusual idea and running with it.
