🎨 Chromatic Dream ✨

A new piece finished in soft pastel on Pastelmat — something I've not worked with before, but it was a dream to use!

I also used my free Caran d'Ache dry pastels from SAA.

I wanted to explore colour in a completely different way, using vibrant pinks, oranges, turquoise, blues, purples and flashes of lime to create a dreamlike, expressive portrait. 💜💙🩷🧡💛

I'm really pleased with how the finished piece has come together. The contrast between the dark background and those intense pastel colours really makes the face glow.

The Last Rose 🌹

I'm so pleased to finally call this painting finished.

This one has been quite a journey — from a figure in a beautiful purple gown to a painting about something much more emotional.

She walks away, while behind her a man stands alone in the mist, holding a single rose. The wet ground reflects the fading light, creating that dreamy, melancholy atmosphere I wanted to capture.

A Snowy day in Lower Petergate, York. ❄️🎨

I've been painting a series of watercolour paintings featuring places my ancestors were born, lived, worked and built their lives.

My grandmother May was born in York, a city rich in history, character and memories.

This is my tribute to her roots.

🌸 A little family story painted onto a shed… 🌸

My latest project has been a very special one — giving my sister’s shed a complete makeover with a hand-painted blossom tree, falling petals and a little girl swinging beneath the branches. 🌳🌸

But the little blonde girl has a story of her own… she could be any one of three generations — Nan, daughter or granddaughter — because all three were blonde little girls at that age. 💕
So perhaps she represents all three of them, bringing a little piece of family history, childhood and imagination to the garden.

I loved creating this one, and seeing the rather ordinary shed transformed into something completely personal and magical. ✨
