A long-held dream is about to rise in the form of a brand new bakery.

We have the most exciting news I think we’ll ever have to share!!

Lakes Cakes & Fudge (newly named 31 The Bakery) is finally coming into being with its own retail outlet in Millom. We are beyond thrilled with this development, and very excited at finally realizing the opportunity to do what we love best…. Produce an array of freshly made delicious goodies, our hope being to spread a little happiness and good cheer one slice of cake at a time!

We will be able to also cater for the savoury lovers around and abouts now, and we’re planning on morning and late afternoon/early evening opening hours.

Our own Lakes Fudge, hand made in delicious flavours, will finally have a presence on the high street.

We want to able to offer something for everyone, so intend to work on gluten free, vegan and diabetic friendly cakes too. We’ve got lots of ideas up our baking sleeves…..

31 The Bakery, sited at 31 Wellington Street, Millom, is coming into existence in Spring 2026 (we'll keep you posted), and will in a short space of time also encompass a sweet shop (lots of good chocolate too!) and a range of country themed cards.

Immense thanks must go to Joe Moyes Carpentry, Joinery and Construction LTD for getting stuck in and bringing our dream to life!!

Thanks to Millom Palladium for another great craft fair... and to all the lovely customers who visited us today - record sales and every purchase is appreciated. It was lovely to catch up with familiar faces as well as new ones!

New Products Alert!!

We're having a lovely time this morning - all the finishing which is my favourite part.

Please join with us tomorrow (22 November) at Millom Palladium 10 - 2pm. Here's a few finished bakery goodies: Our new Christmas Cookie selection..... Our new Christmas Meringues.... the Christmas Slices are just ready for cutting.... the sponge cakes are starting to be ready.... here we have Iced Victoria and Vanilla & Coconut.

Just about to start putting another new product together - our Vanilla Slices!!

It's been a good day to have the ovens on!!

We'll have lots of bakery treats on Saturday (22nd) at Millom Palladium, 10 - 2pm. We've already started on the Mint Aero Flapjack, Gingerbread, School Cake, Mars Bar Slices and Fruit Loaf...

Tomorrow the sponges start and we'll have.... Iced lemon, Irish Coffee & Biscoff, Chocolate Orange, Iced Victoria, Coconut & Vanilla along with Apple Danish Cake!

We'll have the beautiful new Cup Cakes, Meringues and Iced Cookies.... and Stacked Brownies, Custard Slices... Almond Slices....Mince Pies.... the list goes on, so come and see us and grab a treat. All cakes will be £2 per slice, except for School Cake (£1.50) and Christmas Cake Slices (£2.50). Lakes Fudge will be £2.50 per bar.
