Tight lines, everyone! 🎣🐟

​Quick break from checking water levels and reporting catch stats! A lot of you know me from around the MK waters, but you might not know that when I’m not by the bank, I’m an independent software developer building something pretty unique right here in Milton Keynes.

​I’ve created Natural Ai , a local, "tech-for-good" project focused on protecting our local environment, mapping our stunning green spaces, and capturing incredible 3D "digital twins" of our local rivers, lakes, and hidden nature spots using cutting edge 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS).

​Think of it as putting our local habitats on the spatial map, so we can preserve, learn about, and track the health of our waterways for years to come (without even needing a bigger boat! 😉).

​We’re building something totally different to get people outdoors, and we’d love to have our local fishing community along for the ride.

Fighting for Our Waters
⚠️ ANGLING UNDER ATTACK: Is your local swim next? ⚠️

It’s April 2026, and the "war on coarse fishing" is heating up. From Cheshire to Derbyshire, local councils are moving to ban traditional baits or shut down fishing entirely in the name of "biodiversity." 🚫🎣The latest hit: Shakerley Mere has just banned "free baiting." No loose pellets. No groundbait. Just a hook and a prayer.

Why it’s a problem:
1️⃣ Scapegoating: Councils are targeting anglers instead of fixing the REAL sewage and runoff issues.
2️⃣ Loss of Guardians: Who’s going to report the next pollution spill if the anglers are kicked off the bank?
3️⃣ End of a Hobby: These "hard restrictions" are making local waters unfishable for families and clubs who have cared for them for decades.

The Angling Trust is fighting back, but we need to show that we are conservationists, NOT the problem. 🌿Anglers, it’s time to speak up!

RARE VISITOR ALERT: From Siberia to Milton Keynes! 🌍🐦

​Local birdwatchers are buzzing this week after a rare Siberian Chiffchaff was spotted right here in our backyard!

​While most of our local Chiffchaffs are just returning from Africa, this hardy little traveller usually spends its winters much further east. It was recently identified near Ravenstone, hanging out with some common Chiffchaffs and a very busy Goldcrest.

​Why is this a big deal?
Aside from being a long way from home, these birds are a "palaearctic" subspecies (Phylloscopus collybita tristis) that looks a bit different from our usual spring visitors—paler, with more "grey-brown" tones and a distinct high-pitched call.

​Seeing them in Buckinghamshire helps scientists track how changing winters are shifting migration paths across Europe.

​Keep your eyes (and ears) peeled!
If you’re out for a walk along the Grand Union Canal or wandering through Howe Park Wood this week, listen out for their "swee-oo" call. You might just spot a VIP (Very Important Passerine)!
