Just added:

'Lilly'�Small Chad Valley Magna series teddy bear. Lots of golden mohair, original glass eyes and nose and mouth stitching. Has got unusual coloured paw pads in mustard, and have been renewed using very similar colour to original. Fully jointed, sub filled.�Cleaned, checked over and moth treated.�Dates from 1940's/50s, stands at aprox 31cm high and sits at aprox 22cm.

Friday treat anyone?

Mr Tatters�Vintage mohair English bear. He has been in my waiting room a while, I finally sorted his pads, eyes, nose and mouth out. However he does have a chewed tattered ear which he asked to to leave as its his history and character.�He is fully jointed, wood wool and sub filled dating hi to around the 1940s/50s. Cleaned and moth treated. Comes in his hand knit red jumper.�Stands at approximately 40cm�Sits at approximately 27 cm

I feel as a ‘restorer’ there are so many levels to this work that that term doesn’t encompass and it is imperative that I give clients options for their beloved items. This client wanted her bear and dog just ‘sorting out’ so they were the same but better. Some restoration work can make items loose their character by making them look too new. So it is essential to discuss with the client first as to what level of restoration they want.

This old Merrythought bear needed new hip joints, a new old eye and ‘rough but secure’ foot pads and none of the aged mum stitching removed. The dog needed skin grafts using old black grey mohair scraps I had luckily found inside another teddy ears ago and kept, a new ear and some eyes, with filling into his saggy tail.

Matron, Roddy and Ralph assess some of today’s casualties for surgery.

Theteddybearnurse.com for available current adoptions. Please note we are now trialling INTERNATIONAL postage. Please contact us by messenger or email if you wish to rehome any of our bears within our shop if you are non UK based.

Please note that there are time differences, and we do sleep, also items get snapped up quite quickly as our prices are kept reasonable. There are also risks for extended travel overseas that need to be considered carefully. So please be patient while we give this a try. Thank you.
