I still always feel very grateful to those that order comissioms from me but a returning customer feels even more special as they've decided your work was good enough to commission another piece. But when someone has commissioned 4 drawings from the start of your small business until now... that really means something!

Thank you very much Megan! It means a lot!

And thank you to everyone else who has ordered a comission with me. It really means a lot to this dog, nature, and art lover, trying to make some extra money doing something I love around work and a child!

The people have spoken... summer isn't over yet! 🐝

I had a poll in my stories asking what I should draw next. And this lil buzzy bumble bee drew in top place (don't worry this one will be a practice to then do the other choice of finishing my fox drawing). Apparently people aren't quite ready for these guys to disappear for the year!

I haven't picked up my pastel pencils since at least before Caleb was born (he's nearly 3), so we'll see how this one goes!

I'm already loving the colours I'll be using though!

September in the life of this artist (and the end of August, shhh)

It's been a busy month!

-Fitting some family time in at the end of the Summer holidays before my husband went back to work (I've sadly been working most of the summer)
- Starting to lead school trips again at work.
-Squeezing in a comission piece to be given as a wedding gift, for my top customer. How could I say no?
- Potty training Caleb, thank goodness for cheap second hand toys!
- Fitting in some 4 hour walks as part of my Lowland leader training. Not so easy when you have a job and a nearly 3 year old!

But it's definitely been a fun month too!

Does anything look a bit strange on this drawing?

This drawing is from 2 separate photos πŸ“Έ

One of my regular customers asked about the possibility of a drawing as a gift for their friend's wedding. They didn't have any nice photos all together with their dog but perhaps a drawing could make that happen! You can probably guess what the two photos were but just in case... the dog came from a separate photo!

I tried lots of combinations of photos to find the one that looked most natural in terms of photo angle and the positions everyone was in. When drawing I slightly changed some of the shadows on the dress to make it look more like the dog was leaning there too to try and add to the effect and felt like adding the grass at the bottom for them all to stand on added an extra bit of cohesion.

So what do you think? Would you know if I hadn't told you?

Can't decide on one favourite memory/photo?

Pick them all! This lovely client couldn't decide on which photo she liked the most for her drawing. And I could see why, they were all lovely and very special for different reasons. So I suggested we put a few together into one drawing so she had them all in one place! She loved the idea and this is what we came up with! And I'm about to start another one for her showing the different sides of their relationship a little more too!

I love chatting and getting to know my clients to help them decide what works best for them. Whether that's to best capture a pet, piece together a family portrait or to fit a budget, I'm happy to help!

For me it's not just about the drawing...

It's about the memory, or more likely set of memories,that drawing will bring back whenever it's looked at. This drawing for me will always bring back happy memories of my little boy and my dog starting to become friends.

Loved doing this little sketch to help me warm back up after taking a short pause on commissions! I'm now feeling ready to work my way though my bookings having now moved house and completed my Forest School Leader Qualification (woohoo!).
