🧸✨ BIG TOY SWAP COMING TO COSTESSEY! ✨🧸

I'm super excited to share that I'm teaming up with No Crap Parties to host a Big Toy Swap in Costessey this November!

The idea is simple... bring along toys your children have outgrown or no longer play with, and swap them for something new to them. No money changing hands, just toys being loved again 💚

I'm only just starting to put plans together, but I'd love to see if there's anyone who would like to get involved!

🧸 I'm looking for volunteers who might like to help make the event happen. Whether that's helping on the day or getting involved behind the scenes, I'd love to hear from you!

🧸 If you'd love to donate some toys, come along and swap, or simply want more details when I have them, let me know in the comments and I'll keep you updated.

🧸 I'd love to hear from any businesses that might be interested in supporting the event by donating something. Whether that's refreshments, toys or something else that could help make the day special, your support would be hugely appreciated.

The whole idea is to give toys a new lease of life, save perfectly good things from going to waste and help families access toys without spending a penny - all in time for Chr****as 🫣🤫

I firstly wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last few months whilst I start to build this beautiful little business.
Whether that's following along on here (we're already more than 50 strong, which is really exciting), hiring a kit, or spreading the word about party kits - it's all massively appreciated 🙏

We went on holiday last week to Cumbria, and had an amazing time. But we crammed in A LOT as always. And then created a load more jobs for ourselves when we got home (we moved things around in the lounge and kitchen on our first day back 🫤).

So it meant I've been a bit quiet on here.
But I needed to firstly thank everyone who has been supporting, and also introduce myself to those who are new around here.

I'm Claire, and I run Plates n' Bowls n' Stuff.

I work with eco-conscious families who want to celebrate life’s moments in a way that truly aligns with their values.
I help make the more sustainable choice feel simple and achievable, so they can spend less time worrying about the details and more time making memories - knowing they’ve celebrated without compromising on what matters to them 💚

I’m also a mum to two boys and a stepdaughter (who has just recently turned 16 and finished her GCSEs 🤯), and this year my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage.
I’m currently still working in a school over lunchtime, after spending many years working as a support worker. But I’m using the few hours I have around that to build something that I hope will eventually become much bigger than just a business - something that truly benefits the community around me.

I’m also on our school PTA, regularly litter pick within our community, run a local networking group for mums and women in business, and generally seem to find myself getting involved in anything that involves people, community and making things a little bit better 🌍

And now for a few completely unnecessary but important facts about me 😜…
🎬 My two favourite films are Beauty and the Beast and the Hannibal franchise
📖 My favourite book is A Thousand Splendid Suns
🧶 And right now, I’m in the middle of crocheting yet more bunting for my stock. Because apparently I didn’t have enough already!

I’m building Plates n' Bowls n' Stuff to help people celebrate life’s moments more sustainably - without making it more complicated - and I'm loving it 🥰

Ernie's will be opening on Sundays starting on August 30th 💚
The opening hours will be 10am-4pm.

This will be a trial for a few months to see how it goes but hopefully if it works out it will become a permanent thing.
We would love to see you pop by and if there is anyone who you think this might appeal to please share it with them and help spread the word.

One of the most common beliefs about eco-friendly choices is that they require more effort.

I understand why people think that - sometimes they really do require a little more effort.

And that's the problem.

Parents already have enough on their plates when organising a birthday party. Community groups are often run by volunteers who are giving up their own time. The last thing anyone needs is another job to add to the list.

But party hire kits make the eco option as easy as possible.

✅ Choose the items you need.
✅ Collect them (or have them delivered).
✅ Enjoy your event.
✅ Pop everything back in the box afterwards.

No washing up. No storing bulky boxes in a cupboard. No commitment to buying things you'll only use once.

If you're planning a children's party, I've even created a free Eco-Friendly Party Checklist to make things even simpler.

I don't believe being kinder to the planet has to mean making life harder. Sometimes it's just about making one small swap that fits into real life.

Requirements:
🌍 Winces slightly every time they see a bin full of disposable partyware.
🌍 Secretly wonders why children's parties create so much waste.
🌍 Doesn't have room to store 40 cups, 40 plates and enough bowls for the whole class.
