With the weather turning, our mindset around meal prep changes — and if your family is anything like ours, it can be hard to think of new ideas that keep everyone happy. Sometimes we forget the simple staples.
Our locally sourced gammon joints are great value and incredibly easy to cook. Enjoy them pre‑cooked and cold, or serve them straight from the oven. Add a honey and mustard glaze for a special finish. Beats anything you buy in the supermarket, and you're supporting local business.

Here’s how easy it is to cook — a fuss‑free favourite that never disappoints:

Remove the packaging and place the gammon joint in a large saucepan/casserole dish with a lid, bring to the boil and simmer for 20 mins per 500g plus an extra 20 mins.
Preheat your oven to 180° fan.
Remove the gammon from the water and let it cool slightly. Carefully cut away the tough outer skin using a sharp knife, leaving behind and even thin layer of fat (about 5mm thick).
Score the fat in a diamond pattern and glaze with honey and mustard (or a flavouring of your choice) and roast in the oven, uncovered for around 20 mins basting once or twice (little tip, line the roasting pan with foil to make washing up a bit easier).
Remove the gammon from the oven and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes loosely covered with foil.

You won't be disappointed with the results, and there are endless possibilities for the leftovers, packed lunch, maybe ham and pea soup, or just to pick from the fridge when you're feeling a little peckish.

What a welcome turn in the weather, isn't it lovely to feel cool again? And a spot of rain!!!
We have a packed counter for you today with lots of tasty treats for the weekend.
