Wheel Throwing + Hand Building

Can’t decide whether you’d rather learn to throw on the wheel or get creative with hand building? Now you don’t have to. 🤍

Our brand-new 10-week Wheel Throwing & Hand Building Course is designed for complete beginners who want to really get stuck into pottery and learn a wide range of skills.

Across the 10 weeks, you’ll explore both sides of the craft.. learning to centre and throw on the wheel, trim and finish your pots, alongside hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling and slab building.

You’ll have the chance to create everything from mugs, bowls and vases to more individual hand-built pieces, before learning how to finish and glaze your work.

🧡 POTTERY STUDIO OPPORTUNITY 🧡

We have a lovely new opportunity for 3 experienced potters to spend more time at Brick Kiln Pottery. 🏺

We’re offering studio membership time and/or firing credit in exchange for 3 hours of practical studio help per person, per week.

This could be perfect for someone who loves pottery and would really value having regular access to a fully equipped pottery studio and firing facilities, without the cost of a full membership.

What would you be doing?

We’re ideally looking for people who can commit to a regular 3-hour morning each week, starting at around 8am.

Your morning would mainly involve:

🤎 Vacuuming and washing the studio floors first thing, ready for members arriving from 9am
🤎 Loading and unloading kilns and managing the firing areas
🤎 Organising fired work and work awaiting firing
🤎 Simple stock checks, including glaze levels and studio supplies
🤎 Generally keeping an eye on things and letting us know if anything needs attention

Full training will be given on how we do things at Brick Kiln, including our kiln and firing procedures.

Members clean their own wheels and work areas, so you won’t be cleaning up after other people – these are the general jobs involved in keeping a busy pottery studio looking lovely and running smoothly.

Who would it suit?

✨ Someone with good pottery/ceramics experience
✨ Confident working independently in a pottery studio
✨ Practical, organised and happy to get stuck in
✨ Reliable and able to commit to 3 hours each week
✨ Someone who would love more studio time and firing opportunities for their own work

We’re initially offering 3 places within our Members’ Studio, but if we hear from more fantastic people, there may also be opportunities within our main pottery studio.

Our Cute Characters workshop is basically an excuse to spend a couple of hours making the sweetest little clay buddies you can imagine.

✨ £45 per person… and you can make up to THREE characters each ✨

✨Pick your characters
✨Sculpt them from real clay
✨Add all their tiny details
✨We’ll fire them for you
✨Then come back a few weeks later for a pottery painting session to give them their full colour glow-up

No pottery experience needed.. wonky, weird and ridiculously cute is VERY much encouraged.

Come with a friend, make your own tiny collection and prepare to get far too emotionally attached to a few lumps of clay

Our Jellycat-inspired ceramic workshop has arrived! 🤍

Create up to 3 adorable ceramic characters using professional stoneware clay in this fun, relaxed workshop. No experience is needed—we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Once your characters have been professionally kiln fired, you’ll return to our Pottery Painting Studio at a date and time that suits you to paint them with our studio glazes. We’ll then glaze and fire them again, ready to treasure for years to come.
