"In response to the negative comments about the 'black windows' please could you reserve judgement until the works are completed? What you are commenting on is a first undercoat. The photo below is what we have planning permission for - the conservation officer specifically asked that we use the RAL colour akin to the original shop in 1915. The same for the signage. When the outside has been stripped and the new clear glazing is in, with the new signage, the aim is for the shop to look like it did originally ala the image attached. Appreciate we cant please everybody but please can we try and keep things positive and supportive. We are doing are very best to secure the shops future and hopefully when it is completed we can get some encouraging and constructive comments 👍

Volunteers wanted!



We posted previously informing that HomeSmiths were able to procure the original telephone box outside the shop. We are currently in the process of refurbishing the outside of the shop (hope you all are liking the improvements!) We are looking for any volunteers in the village who may have the time to help refurbish the phone box. We are able to supply any of the parts that need replacing together with the famous red paint to get it looking pristine once again! The plan is to use the phone box as a book exchange. We can also arrange for some custom signs to be done in the original leverage ‘Book Exchange..Kinnerley…Library’ Please contact the girls in the shop or message David Smith directly on 07983 200135 if you have some spare time to help us.



We are also about to embark on a much needed ‘mini-refit’ and refurbishment inside the shop. Please be patient with us as we carry out the works! As part of the refurbishment, we are introducing new lines and products including a new area specifically for customers to grab a coffee and a whole new range of tasty takeaway snacks! There will also be seating areas in and outside for customers to sit and enjoy our new offerings!



Finally, we are investing all this time and effort to try and secure the shops future. We cannot do this without the support of the resident so please, please think of us when you are next looking for groceries or if you fancy a fresh cake or hot pie and a coffee!

We are all very saddened to hear of the passing of one of our dear customers Dave Arden. Dave came to the shop everyday to collect his newspaper and always loved a chat with all of the staff. We will miss the daily conversations. Dave always had a story to tell about his past. His time teaching, travelling, on the railways, RAF,brass band, horses, he certainly packed alot into his life and had many adventures. We wish to send our deepest condolences to his family. May you resting peace Dave 🕊️
