🗳️OxIRSoc has the upcoming election for 2025-2026 in this Trinity Term.

🤝If you are interested in joining the team, please send a one-page maximum in PDF format “Letter to the Society” (manifesto) to [email protected] by Friday 9th May, 5pm. This “Letter to the Society” should include: Your name, degree, and college; The position for which you are running; Your platform (qualifications, ideas, leadership style, etc.); Other than that… get creative!

✉️Candidate letters will be published on the website and emailed to our mailing lists on Monday 12th May for members’ consideration. Candidates and interested members will then have a chance to speak and mingle with members at the OxIRSoc Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 14th May from 6pm - 8pm at Dorfman Center, St Peter’s College.

ℹ️Professor Ron Krebs is Distinguished McKnight University Professor and Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota. Krebs is immediate past editor-in-chief of the leading scholarly journal Security Studies and is coeditor of the Oxford Handbook of Grand Strategy (Oxford UP, 2021). He is currently writing a book titled The Age of Global Militarism: How Veneration of the Military Spread—and Why it Matters.

🤓Join OXIRSOC tomorrow, Jan 23, at 5:30 PM for a discussion with Dr. Deividas Šlekys on the evolving defense strategies of the Baltic States amid Russia’s war in Ukraine.

ℹ️ Dr. Šlekys is an Associate Professor at Vilnius University specializing in war studies. He has contributed to pivotal defense initiatives and is a member of Lithuania’s Total Defense Council.
