Self Store North East is 1 today!
12 months ago my family went on a journey into the self storage industry.
It has been tough and a very big learning curve but we have made it to 1 year old.
I couldn't have done it without the support of my family and friends.
1 year ago today I stood outside a freezing cold warehouse with Kirtley Co. and took the keys, beginning the first chapter of Self Store North East.
Thank you to Alex Kirtley and Toni for all your assistance this year, its been fun working together, if not a bit mental.
Special thanks must be given to the Tax Man and Durham Council for allowing me the pleasure of giving them shed loads of cash, without them I don't know how I would spend our hard earned money.
20% of all small businesses fail within the first year, thankfully we have officially passed this milestone and its in no small part due to our fantastic customers and suppliers. (although 60% fail within 3 years so only 730 days of worry to go!)
Our charity this last year was 68th Durham Light Infantry Peterlee & Horden veterans branch donating money to go towards the vital work the group does in support of local veterans, we appreciate the custom and look forward to continuing our support.
We have just signed a deal with East Durham Warriors, providing much needed safe reliable storage allowing the team to concentrate on smashing it in the league. Alongside DFDS KTW Electrical and Rae of Colour we are pushing for a league title this year and getting ready for the next season.
Lastly Google AI told me I should mark this occasion by creating branded company merch so if anyone would like a really crap Self Store North East t-shirt or mug let me know, in the words of Henry Ford "you can have any colour you want so long as it is black"
From the bottom of my heart thank you to everyone that has listened to me rant or given advice (wanted or not) or simply just popped in to say hello.
You know your doing something right when past customers call in for a cup of tea, even when they know they have to bring milk.
