š¤ My Curiosity Collection: Lillibet
Some curiosities that come to me donāt leave again. Sometimes I get attached!
I thought Iād start sharing little pieces of my own collection, along with the stories surrounding them. Iād love to hear any information, knowledge or insight you might have too.
So, letās meet my first dollā¦ Lillibet. š¤
Lillibet is an antique porcelain baby doll, believed to date from around 1910ā1920 and possibly made in England or Germany.
She has a beautifully cracked porcelain face, a lace-trimmed bonnet and a long white gown. Thereās something about her that immediately caught my attentionā¦I just couldnāt resist that cheeky face looking at me from the antique crib.
I bought Lillibet from the wonderful local curiosity shop The Raven & Broomstick
While she was there, customers reported seeing her head move. On one occasion, the shop owner, Lilly, arrived at the shop one morning to find Lillibet sitting on the floor outside her cabinet.
Since bringing her home, Iāve had my own little experience with Lillibet.
Iāve seen what appeared to be the shadow of a child at the bottom of my stairs.
Iāve also been told by a trusted wise woman that a child named Elizabeth ā or Lillibet ā is attached to the doll. She described the little girl as wafer-thin, in need of a good meal and a bath.

I donāt know exactly who Lillibet belonged to, or what stories she could tell if she could speak.
But perhaps thatās part of the fascination.
