Save The Children Community Charity Shop - Preston

We've had lots of discussions this week about what we can and can't take as donations. We know it's hard to decide if you aren't familiar with the way shops work so we've put together a little guide for you!

The basic questions to ask before donating are:
❓️ Would you buy it in its current condition?
❓️ Would you give it to a friend in its current condition?
❓️ Is it clean?
❓️ Is it free of damage?
If the answer to all these is yes, we'd love to take your item!

For your safety, there are some items we can't accept, including anything which requires safety testing (eg car seats, medical equipment, electricals) anything prohibited by law (Zombie Knives, Fi****ms, Other Weapons or Ivory) or any food stuffs.

If you have donations and you aren't sure if we can accept them, please feel free to give us a call on 01772 717727 to check before you load the car, we'd be happy to help!

We can't work our magic without you! Right now, we are in desperate need of donations of good quality men's clothes, puzzles, books bric-a-brac and toys.

If you have items you no longer need, which are clean and in good condition, We'd love you to drop them in to your local charity shop, Save the Children, Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood.

Save The Children, Fulwood's Book of the Week this week is The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

Six university graduates from various fields of magic are recruited for an elite program. Two long-standing rival physicians, an empath, a manipulator, a nature diviner and an unknown quantity all brought together to vie for a place with the Alexandrians (the people behind the library of Alexandria). As the students get to know each other and the society they are being recruited by, they also discover there are only 5 places and they are responsible for sacrificing one of the other recruits, paying the society entry fee in blood.

This is not Olivie Blake’s best work but it is brilliant. It sucks you in and gets you hooked on the problem of who will die. The final twist is so unexpected and cleverly seeded. I’m definitely looking forward to picking up the next in the series.
