December’s daily ditty.
Buying jewellery as a gift.
This time of year, many people decide on buying jewellery as a Christmas gift for friends or relatives.
It can be a daunting task! Prepare yourself.
Does the recipient prefer white or yellow metal?
Think of their age, build and what type of jewellery they already wear.
Do they have pierced ears? If so, do they prefer studs or drops.
Longer or short necklaces? Do they like colours in stones or prefer plain?
Do they like to match necklaces and earrings?
If you’re thinking of a ring, do you know their finger size?
All valid points 🤔 and worth considering, as is your budget.
To be honest though, we’ve never met a lady who doesn’t like being gifted a nice piece of jewellery. 💍💕
Plus points....a small box is so easy to wrap up, and keep hidden until the big day! 🤣🤣🤣😁
Happy shopping 🥧🍷🎅🏽

December’s daily ditty.
Are opals unlucky?
We often hear people say they wouldn’t buy opals as they are unlucky....when you ask them why, they have no idea as to why.
Well...as with other less hard stones, there is always the ability to scuff or crack an opal.
Gemstones are rated by hardness on the Moh’s scale, with diamond being the hardest, and talc the softest. We have no talc jewellery, naturally. 😉
Opals rate at 6, but as a silicon dioxide and water based thing, they can dry out over time if left in inappropriate places.
So, bearing in mind that opals are created within rock fissures, we would say they are tough old creatures, plus they can be exquisitely beautiful and unique....so go ahead and enjoy them in jewellery, just store them away from other jewellery where they can get bashed about, or direct heat or light sources. Also, please don’t bathe in them, swim in them or put them in ANY chemicals.

December’s daily ditty.
Real, less real, or totally unreal?
If there’s ever a season we can bring on the bling, it’s the Christmas season 💍🎄
The parties, the work events, the family round, the little black dress events.
Tis most definitely the season!!!
So what will be the best jewellery to sparkle along with your sequin face mask? 🤔
Should it be diamonds? Cubic zirconia? Diamante?
Honestly....who cares? As long as you love it....wear it!! 😁
So...looking at the pictures below...all are included. Can you tell which one is which?
Answers on a postcard, to be sent with chocolate or mince pies please 🤣🤣😉
Enjoy your day 🥧🍷🎅🏽

December’s daily ditty.
Cleaning jewellery!
I don’t suppose many of you have a handy polishing motor, buffing mops and rouge lying around at home?
Well fear not, you can still give your jewellery a little TLC.
Take a small bowl, add a dash of washing up liquid and some warm water.
Pop the offending dirty bits of jewellery in to soak for a few minutes.
That should give you enough time to eat a mince pie.
Take a soft baby toothbrush and gently brush the jewellery (never over a plughole, just incase a stone pops out), then rinse in clean water over a bowl, paper towel dry, then leave to dry thoroughly in a warm place.
Celebrate with a sherry 😉
Only rules....no pearls, no coated or treated stones, no lockets or anything containing paper, no watches, no strung beads, no mince pies.
If in doubt, please ask us...we’re at the end of the phone 😃
