I woke up at around 4am the other morning (don't worry I didn't stay awake!) and the dawn chorus was in full swing!

The noise was really something else!

If you love listening to the birds or watch them bobbing around doing their thing, but don't get the time why not come along to my next workshop?

We will be taking lots of slow, R&R, making a bird wall hanging. It's absolutely suitable for beginner to experienced stitchers, and there is no pressure to finish on the day.

Sit and sew in the garden, watch the birds...eat cake!

Festival time is almost here!
I’m really looking forward to the WOW! Gathering next month in Northallerton, when I’ll be hosting a slow sewing workshop.

At this time of year, our garden is anything but silent in the morning!

It’s surprising just how noisy and busy the birds can be at this time of the day.

I have a little pair of binoculars so that I can watch the birds as they bob around the trees and garden beds. Armed with a little RSPB bird book and the amazing Merlin App on my phone I’ve managed to identify over 20 different kinds of feathered garden visitors this spring.

NEW workshop announcement!

Hand Stitched Bird Wall Hanging
Saturday 6 June | 10am–4pm

A full day of slow sewing for those curious about stitching, creativity, and rest.

This workshop is open to all levels and is designed to be unhurried and gentle — there’s no pressure to finish, only an invitation to enjoy the process.
We’ll begin with a grounding exercise, sew quietly with guidance and templates, and close the day with a soft meditation.
If the weather is kind, you’re welcome to stitch in peaceful corners of the garden, surrounded by birdsong and greenery.
Materials, drinks, and homemade cake are included.

I'm delighted to have been accepted to run a slow sewing session at the WOW! Women Only Wellness Gathering 2026

This is a summer gathering is a festival celebrating women and girls. A weekend full of colour, creativity, positivity and wellbeing. It is the perfect introduction to a variety of wellness workshops and activities.

I’ve decided to move my workshop sessions to pay as you feel for the remainder of this year.

I want the sessions to feel genuinely open and welcoming, and not something anyone feels priced out of. Pay as you feel gives people the chance to come along, take part, and see what the slow sessions are all about — without pressure.

They’re about taking time out, making with your hands, resting a little, and enjoying being together.

I have a session this Saturday (18 April) in my cabin at home (DL10 6JT) where we’ll be making a starry night wall hanging, spending time in the garden, enjoying homemade cake, and slowing right down.

If you’ve been curious but unsure before, this is your invitation to join us….
