Nalbinding is one of the world’s oldest surviving textile crafts.

Older than knitting. Older than crochet.

For thousands of years it was used to create warm, durable accessories such as hats, mittens and socks.

Today, few people are keeping the tradition alive.

Every new nalbinder helps preserve a small piece of textile history.

I’ve just restocked the beginner kits if you’d like to learn this ancient craft for yourself.

A little reminder that this page exists to celebrate, share and promote historical crafts.

Questions are welcome. Curiosity is welcome. Even respectful disagreement is welcome.

What isn't welcome is belittling people or dismissing the crafts they care about.

It's very rare that I block anyone, but if someone can't engage respectfully, they'll be shown the door. Life's too short, and there are far more interesting things to talk about.

Hi everyone

There has been an influx of new followers to my socials recently so I thought it best I do a reintroduction post.

I’m Keila 👋🏼

I’m on a mission to promote and preserve the ancient craft of Nalbinding. It’s listed as an endangered craft here in the UK by the association.

I’ve been working hard through social media to spread awareness and introduce as many people as possible to the craft.

Within the last few months things have exploded and my reels have gone viral with one reel alone clocking up close to 10 million views!

Today marks 8 years since I opened my Etsy shop!

Back then, I never imagined it would grow into what it is today.

Over the last 8 years there have been so many different products (some more successful than others!), an array of needles, hundreds of Nalbinding kits, countless hours of making, too many commissions to count, teaching and learning, a rebrand, wholesale orders, workshops, and most recently, millions of people discovering nalbinding through my videos ❤️

What started as a hobby has grown into a business dedicated to keeping an ancient craft alive and helping others discover it for themselves.

To everyone who has bought a kit, a needle, a pattern, attended a workshop, shared a post, recommended my work, or simply followed along on the journey -thank you!! You are the reason Keila is still here 8 years later ❤️
