Is an extended warranty worth buying on a value-brand appliance?
Sometimes—but don’t automatically add it at the checkout. First, compare the warranty cost with the price of the appliance and check:
• How long the manufacturer’s guarantee lasts
• What the extended warranty actually covers
• Whether there is an excess or call-out fee
• Whether repair or replacement is included
• What protection you already have under your consumer rights
If the warranty adds a significant amount to the appliance price, putting that money aside towards a future repair or replacement may offer better value.
The right answer depends on the appliance, the cover and the cost—not simply the brand name.
